How much are 3S-GTE's? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #1348 22 posts Started by Koricidin
After looking at the specifications, these engines are bad ass especially for a celica..

How much would one run me? Also, would I be able to order it, or do i need to look for someone selling one?
Toysports.com

To order it you'd have to call them. I'm not sure what else you'd need though.

New Toyota project coming soon...
i can get you the engine ecu adn wiring harness for 850. the tranny you have to find, but if you want to knwo jsut send me a private message
It'll cost you at least $7,000+ to do this swap. That's my estimate
I got quoted $3500 for entire ST205 front clip that also included the transmission, axles, and anything else that i would need for the swap. Send me an email if you want the contact so you can see if he is still offering it.

$7000+ to do the swap??? >frown.gif> why?
It costs so much cause of everything that has to be done, especially the wiring!
really? awwww...

i hope i make some mechanic friends soon then... >rolleyes.gif>
so, lets say u get the clip, with everything needed to do the swap, how much more money would it take to swap it?

here are ruff costs for the swap and parts needed:

GT: all u need to do this is the engine, wiring harness and the ECU... you DO NOT need the front clip... save urself some cash and dont get the full clip cuz its expensive to ship.

ST: you DO need the full clip and you will have to put in the GT4 or Gt axles, u will also need new motor mounts and the GT transmission.

as for cost if you do the swap urself... which if you have a GT do it that way cus its easy except for the wiring issues

for an ST pay a shop to do it unless u have done an engine swap before... this will cost you around 1200 for a shop to do it assuming that you have all of the parts

now the reason i was considering the clip is because right now i currently have an auto tranny. if i get the clip, would i have everything needed to convert it to manual as well?

-alex
ok 7 g's for the swap is way to much. like someone said you can get the st185 for 1500. more than likely the company that sells that is in california. so keep it in california. have them ship it to EL Prototypes in Aruza cali. www.elprototypes.com. then ship your car there for like 200-500 bucks. then pay them like 1000 bucks???? or so to do it. then have them ship your car back to you. for 200-500 bucks.

total cost:
$2900- $3500 depending on how far you live from cali and what shipping company you go with.

just remember: cars cost less to ship than parts. It sounds weird but it is true.

have them swap out the tranny from your car and the clip. also you are going to need the USDM gas, clutch, and brake, pedals from a manual celica. the ones from the clip will not work unless you want the passenger to shift. hehehe. or you can keep it an auto. even though manuals are funner to drive and usually faster.
I'm curious to what you people think. If an auto switches gears faster than a manual, why is it faster? (other than launch)
Well from a non-mechanical point, you have so much more control over your car with a manual..

yea, but that would only matter if you were autocrossing or something with curves.
