I go on vacation and when i get back my antenna makes this grinding sound every time i put it up. The motor runs even though the antenna's all the way up. Then when i turn the car off the motor runs for the tnna to come down but unless i give it a little touch it stays stuck in the up position. Then all of a sudden i find this ebay item that i have NEVER seen.

has ne1 had this problem....do i have to buy this or is there another easier way to fix this problem??

I lent my car to my brother for the day and to say thanks he washed it for me in a car wash. Well, he snapped off my antenna. It made that grinding noise even though there was nothing there. Based on that, I think its the antenna piece, and that ebay one might fix your prob. I'm no expert though, thats just my 2 cents.

sounds like the plastic piece that winds around the motor spool is broken or came off track. you cna take it apart and look at it to see what the prob is. Its a very greasy job though

Many people here have used a Honda S2000 antenna as a replacement. I think they were about $20. Do a search. Unless you just gotta have a power antenna this is the way to go. Change it and never think about it again.

Just my 2 cents but - Toyota antennas s*ck. They really are the worst part of the car. My current Celica is the only one I've ever owned that the antenna worked.

Go to newcelica.org for the S2000 antenna, a guy in the buy/sell forum sells them for 14dollars a pop.

S2000 antenna and the seventh gen peices..thats what i got. moltar saw it

much thanx to all i probably will go the s2000 route. Just thought it was weird that i never saw that ebay buy offered till like a week after my antenna broke.
