My airbags are deployed, and popular opinion from my friends is that I should not replace them, but then I thought that If I didnt replace them, then I would be wasting the space underneath the passenger airbag, there has to be something useful to do with it. any suggestions?

i have the same problem. i don't know what to do with my air bag cover i thought about making a fiberglass cover of it and keeping it as storage.

i just replaced my airbags...omg they were a biznatch to install!!! if ur not gonna put them back in make a monitor in a fiberglass thing then put hinges on it so it can go back down in and look stock! people will be less likely to steal it if they dont know its there! lol just go to the toyota dealership and get a new door(there like 20 bucks) and mold it to the back of the tv mount.
mount a CD changer there with a fiberglass surround and paint it...

I am going to pull my passanger side air bag out and put a LCD in (7.2) and put DVD player under the passanger side seat. I have also moved my CD player to the vent spot, and will be putting a 7.2 LCD where the old spot of the sterio.

I don't get why you would take out your airbag if it works? I mean lets say you get in a head on collision and you have a passenger you care about, wouldn't you want her to be safe?
Yeah, honestly. Thats like removing your steering wheel to put a sports one on while the airbag still works. It's not worth it
i am going to remove both airbags, but not until i get racing seats with harnesses, and stabalizer bars put in

Would a passenger airbag even help at all if the passenger had their seatbelt on? I am thinking of just getting a cover for my passenger one becasue it is deployed. Any of you guys want to sell yours that are planning on doing things?

a pair of airbags for our celicas cost $800 - $1000. so i wouldnt replace em... and if the insurance is paying for it... get a upholstry guy to redo the airbags so it looks original... keep the money. >

actually ive taken out many airbags for cars and ive blown up a few outside a car myself... believe me those things kill more than they save... the sound of it alone will make my gf pee herself and the force is so high, when i blew up the airbags it flew up 8feet in the air... just matters on the person personally

i just the other day took a utility knife cut off the passenger cover. took into the garage cut of the tabs and know it sits in there just fine looks like stock.
i need to get it recovered with vinal like the dash and then no one would ever be the wiser.
and if you want you could cover the inside with fiber galss and have a storage place for something like an SAFC or a turbo timer or something.

my airbag deployed one time and i didnt even get into an accident, let me tell you, the force that which that thing comes out is almost enough to knock your ass out.. also my wife has a 2003 eclipse. she went head on with a tree in the snow. the way the sensors are, the tree went straight in between the sensors and it never deployed.
Airbags in my avalon deployed while I was in it a couple years ago (yes I hit something) and it DID knock me out.
I only hit the other car at 15 miles an hour tho, and as such, the airbags caused more damage than I would have had; but if I was going 10 mph faster, I would have smacked the steering wheel causing SERIOUS damage- had the airbags not been there.
