Anyone have anytips on how to install a hood scoop to make it look great

1) have a professional do it
2) Why do you need a hood scoop?

is it because you have a 3sgte swapped celi with a TMIC? If not.. then just install vents. a hood scoop adds too much drag...

i am getting the RIPP MODS super charger....I need it to get more air in there and cool it alittle

To me any scoop someone wants to look good should be molded in. Is that hood scoop you have fiberglass? If so, this is what I would do: First, screw and glue the hood scoop to the car, unscrew, fill the holes you made when you screwed it to the car, and then use a decent filler to mold it into the car.

In order to do that... use a surface grinder and grind to bare metal anywhere where the hood scoop will come into contact with the hood. Sand the general area around the hood scoop too.

Now predrill your holes and attach the hood scoopp with screws. This is your test fit. You'll need to rescrew the hood scoop on when you've got glue on the back so you get a nice tight fit.
Now get a decent epoxy. I'm using a product called Fusion on my kit right now, it's heat activated and extremely strong. Use a body filler spreader and spead epoxy on the bottom of the scoop and on the areas of the hood the scoop will touch. Screw the scoop to the car and use the spreader to wipe off any glue that oozes out, and use laquer thinner to wipe it off places you don't want it.

After the glue has cured unscrew the screws. When you glue it be sure none of the epoxy gets on the screw heads or else you'll never be able to get them out. Now use something like Mar-glass or Dura-glass filler and wipe all around the hood scoop's edges. Sand this out so the hood scoop flows with the lines of the hood. That's it! The same goes for kits and any other fiberglass work.

I badly need a hood scoop. I live in AZ and give major props to my celicas AC system. Its 110 out here now. My motor is getting so hot. I am going to add a f-50 style hood scoop to help vent air out. Its going to be riveted for now, but I will mold in the future.

That's cool dude. I was gonna buy a hood scoop and all, but I decided to just make my own. I made a hood vent (it goes into the hood instead of over the top). I just welded it in with steel pieces. I'm still shaping it with filler and all but as soon as i'm done I'll put up some pics.

LOL you said you had 2 questions but only asked 1. As for water, no water. I dont drive it in the rain, and it hasnt been washed yet since its primer and water and primer dont mix. But I wouldnt spray right into the scoop i'd spray above it downwards.

And its hard to imagine glassing in the sides. I use them for the blinkers which arent pictured installed. My dad has a 350, they very different.

I had the same first question as madmods. I just welded in my hood vent and I'm worried about the rain issue. The opening comes right before the valve cover and the distributer is only about 10 inches to the right of the opening. I just know that one day I'll be driving on the interstate and it'll start raining before I can do anything about it. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just weld up the back or something. Maybe... haha this sounds dumb... I could make some sort of duct-work underneath the hood to throw the water where I want it.

The way i see it, is that the ST185 had a scoop, the RC had a vent like the ST205 and the ST205 had a big vent, so it cant pose that big of a problem.

I know cars with oem vents have rain gutters installed in them, to vent water off to the side.the fuzion hoods on ebay also have a rain shield you can add to channel water to the side.

What do you think? Its not molded yet though.

Looks good dude.. just needs to be molded in to flow with the vehicle and not look like it's sitting on top the hood. Hey madmods, I know it's probably hard to explain, but how do those rain sheilds work? Design? ect.

The vent I welded in. I still need to smooth it out with filler and fix the spots that sunk in when I welded. Oh and hehe.. don't look too closely at my welding >> I'm still learning >>



I'm in the process of shaving the sidemarkers.



I'm also shaving the emblems and welding up the holes from the stock spoiler so I can put on a new one.
