Turbo 20v 4age - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #14485 13 posts Started by drdos
My friend and i are working on his St celica and we want todo a 4age 20 v swap.

so im trying to source the parts to make a turbo charged 20 v.

we plan on doing this

forged pistion's
forged rods
apr studs
better head gasket(Havent foudn one yet)

but the problem is the turbo setup

dotn know what turbo togo with?
im thinking a t3/t4

or just a t3

another problem is to find a excuasht manifold.

would it have to be custom?

thanks
Lots of people go with the T3, unless you plan to make a lot of horsepower.

You'll most likely have to build a custom exhaust manifold, or find one somewhere...if it'll fit a 16 valve 4A-GE, it can be modified to fit the 20 valve 4A-GE.

I'm assuming that you're going to go with a AE111 4A-GE right? Are you going to use the 20 valve's ECU, or go standalone?

Are you two doing the swap yourselves?

I highly suggest reading through the following links before you start this project, as it's going to be very difficult. It'd be sweet to have a 20 valve 4A-GTE though. >biggrin.gif>

Why silvertop? The AFM will be far worse for boosting the engine than a MAP setup(like the blacktop has) would be. Plus, you'll be replacing most of the components(rods and pistons) that were lightened when Toyota introduced the blacktop 4A-GE anyway. And it's only a few hundred dollars more...you'll already be spending thousands for everything else. >wink.gif>

Are you going to do the swap yourself?

Looks like im not the only one who is planning on doin this.

I believe the 20V internals are already forged. What you need to do, is either swap in 4AGZ pistons or go with an aftermarket turbo set. That's about it. I personally would worry more about the actual swap than things like forged internals and which turbo to go with. Handle things according to when they come up... instead of going straight to the "fun stuff". It's like throwing a victory party before the competition starts...

Anyways... the silvertop is AFM... but you can still go with a MAP set-up on that motor. It's just a matter of parts and wiring. If you're looking for a lot of power... go stand alone on MAP.

Yeah, get the blacktop. It'd be pretty weak to go silvertop
