I recently bought some sony explod 6.5's and 6x9's. I was able to custom make brackets for the front speakers using plexiglass I am Running into trouble thinking of a way to fit my 6x9's in the rear. I am not an audio nut but I was hoping that someone who was would read this thread and might be able to help me out. >

Rear speaker install with 6x9's - 6G Celicas Forums
Did you open up your panels before you bought that stuff? I think they won't fit almost no matter what you do- otherwise some of the guys would have done it already
personally i would keep the back speakers as 6.5's and put the 6x9's on theback deck. thats what one of my friends did with his 7gen and they sound awesome with that setup...he also has 2 rockford 12's in the back and it doesn't mess the 6x9's up at all. if you want to make it look good you might have to glass the back of them to the cover or somethng like that.
just get proper ones that fit.. theres no reason to change sizes like that.

Yeah I did and I am pretty sure you could get them in there it would just be tricky and use up about all the available room. I figured I could just make it work but I think I will go ahead and take you guys' advice and get some smaller speakers and set these up in the trunk with some subs which I have yet to buy

uh first return the sony's
there isn't enough depth space for the 6X9's, and i agree with playa.

Well you could put the 6x9s in there but would more work than those Sonys are worth take my advive throw them away and never look back. Go get yourself a nice alpines or infinity speaks the will last longer and sound better.

It's not that hard to make a bracket that will fit the 6*9 speaker in the side panels. I did this in my car, and it sounds great. You just cut the plastic on the back, screw a 6*9 bracket on it (from the back) and then use some foam to seal the gap between the bracket and the plastic. (sorry I don't know the english word for the foam that I used, but it sealed it up great). And I'm sure you can do it nicer than I did, it was sort of a hasty job >
