I am planning on lowering my celica as soon as I can get the money. But I was wondering if there are any problems with lowering my car that I may not be aware of. I just want to make sure it will still be drivable, for example..
am i gonna have problems with speed bumps?
steep driveways?
deep road puddles?
etc....

I have sportlines, and as long as i take speed bumps and driveways slow enough and at the right angle i clear them. But i take them the same way i did before i lowered my car.
I have scraped a few times out of carelessness tho.
yea ull have to be careful of all of those... sometimes it pisses people off behind you but oh well, its your car
im running stock wheels, no kit, lowered 1.25", I have no problem with speedbumps, kerbs, etc. I'm not sure about american roads but... lol
gotta swerve like a drunk, lol. got pulled over twice b/c the cops thought i was drunk. i told him to look at the wheels.
yea northern VA is horrible, so i'm always swerving, or goin slow over things but i have a big drop like 2.5" with a kit...but my 18" rims helped lift me back up but driveways KILL me i can't go in ANY of them
I'm lowered "3 on stock rims tires it's hell!
im tein's with 18's and i occasionally scrape. speed bumps arent a problem though.

thank you for all of your feedback and answers. So how much do you think I should lower the car to make it look nice, but at the same time, still able to driving over those obsticles?

2 inches? i dunno...i have about 5 inches of clearance from my lip to the ground and im ok most of the time. Sometime its a pain.

after reading all of your comments, I think I'll go with the TRD springs, they only drop 1 to 1.5 and claim to maintain good ride quality. But will a 1 to 1.5 drop be enough to hide some of the wheel well if I put on 17 inch rims with 40 tires?
Scraping will suck. But I like my Tom's they're durable. I was once racing a 1.8t jetta in town and we hit a dip and my celi got a lil air. The exhuast scrapped but the toms did a find job, i didnt bottom out the front. Course I know its mostly credit to the shocks, but screw them, they're all blown

id say a 2 inch or so drop would be good... mine were supposed to be 1.75 in front and 1.5 in the back but it was LOW with my stock 15's, but when i got my 17's it bumped it up a little bit and now its wayyy more driveable
if you consider the original TRD springs, why not think about tein s tech, they drop about the same, 1.4 front and .9 rear, I had them for about 2 weeks now, not much problem moving around, and I also able to get up to my drive way, check my pic, see if you like the drop.
I have TRD springs and have had no problems with speed bumps or scraping. A performance spring like the TRD or prokit is not going to give as much as the stock spring. Therefore, your car is not going to rub the tires or pavement UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. Some lowering springs are designed more for looks than ride, however.
P.S. The TRD springs lower the car over 1.75 inches despite the fact that TRD says 1 to 1.5.

I have the invader front end..so..lowering the car is out of the question..It sits 4" off the ground as it is.
