Ignition PUSH BUTTON - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #15022 30 posts Started by playr158
does anyone know the wire color meanings of the wire that go to the ignition ....
cause i want to eliminate my key entirely when i get the push button so i need to know what each wire means so i can cut off the key
*cough* wiring digrams on stocky*cough*
sweet were exactly do you live.. cause it only takes 10 secs to pop the lock... an no key.. humm, I could use a new ride..
push start work with manual tranny right ?
just wondering cuz i heard there's a complication with manual tranny and auto start
ok. you still will need the key in the on position..there's really no way around that, other than if you wire up a switch...i had mine set up to where ONLY the button would start the car...so you had to turn the key, then hit the button...

the wire you need on the ignition cylinder is the black/white wire. then you'll need a constant 12v, then a 12v when "on", and a ground.

if you want it set up like i had mine, just cut the white/black wire, and run the end coming from the body harness to the starter button. just leave the end comin outta the plug hangin. >smile.gif>.

You can by-pass the clutch, you can also by-pass the ignition.. well key start.. your goign to have to get some sort of acuator or somthing thats timed.. like hook it through a remote start or somthing, so you dont blow your starter.. I personally think its the stupidist thing you can do... an If ya do it, dont tell anyone

Ignition Push Button is not Auto-Start

This is a feature that is found on the Viper and S2000 to name two. You put the key into the ignition, turn it to "on" not "start" and then hit the "Start" button normally put in the cig lighter. Your car will start as if you turned to key to "Start." Auto-Start is found on alarm systems and keyless entry. For a manual you'll need a clutch-bypass so the clutch doesn't have to be despressed to engage the ignition. This of course is dangerous if you leave you car in gear and dont set your e-brake. Automatics will be fine either way. The "start" button is an awesome add-on to any car and makes a great "talk piece" as the MaryKay ladies would say. I'd either put it in my cig lighter or the circle area at the top of the left vent of the steering wheel. If someone would like to do a full how-to I'd love to see something written up.

yea who knows what is goin on now.....what i was saying when i stared this post is...
1) i'm goin to install a push button start
2) eliminate the key
3) install kill switch for all electricty to where the key is supposed to go
4) secret....
5) REMOTE/AUTO start is VERY VERY different than what this subject is about
thus why I said my post - It seemed to go from Start button to remote start... hum. Either way - all good info. >smile.gif>
what you could do, that would be pretty cool, to get ride of the key, is get a digital lock or somthing like that.. I know the new benz has somthing like that..
haha, what are you goin to pad lock??, i actually figured it out i'll take the ignition out but leave it inside the dash with the key in it 24/7 in the start position (i can still access the key to take it out though) and i'll have a kill switch for the electricity to the ignition so its not always on...or sumthing of that nature i'm not sure what i'm goin to do as of now just tossing around ideas, thanks for the info
lol y dont you get a numeric keypad and hook it up to that, thatd be pimp, like in the transporter

EDIT: I found one! now i wanna do that

hmmm 30$ not a bad idea.....but typing in a code is a pain in the arse when you have to do it everytime you wanna start your car
lol just thought of something, how would u turn off the car?
kill switch runs electricity to the key so one will turn on the starter and one will run the electricity in general
oh yea, turning off that switch will turn off the car, ok this will be in progress in my car, ill show u guys when im done
haha i'm not goin to key pad lock my car thats just to much ......but i have another plan since pretty much none of you besides one guy knows where i live i don't give a care.....
steps
1) remove ignition (key insert)
2) splice starter wire: connect to driver side door lock then to engine start button (you have to hold to lock button down at the same time you have to push the engine start button)-that is the sneekiness who would guess to push both at the same time?!
3) splice accessory wires to a kill switch (this will control all power that turn they key to the on position would normally)

there you go that is how i plan on running my ignition

FlickR2011 Subaru WRX and 1997 3sgte Celica
for security ud have to have a starter kill...either a hidden switch, or a keypad, or sumin. even an alarm would work. but i still dont recomened without keypad
