front bumper absorber - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #15123 10 posts Started by koan
Due to the wreck I had a while back, I am working on replacing many of the parts on he front end. This includes the front bumper absorber (large piece of styrofoam molded to shape of front bumper). While researching, I discovered that this is only sold for the 94-95 years. My question is will it be okay if I skip the replacement and save $$$.
-Thanks
NO... its not very advicable, most likely the later years have some other sort of absorber, if you dont and have a wreck then it can really do much more damage.
you can try to fill the inside of the bumper with expandable foad, like the mono stuff in a can.
My friend had a del sol, and he removed his support bars for his body kit, he then got into an accident. It wasnt his fault BUT, he got a ticket cause its a law that you must have a support bar, the cop said hes lucky he wasnt going to arrest him!

So if i were you get a new one!
My 97 celica has the foam stuff on the inside of the front bumber too. the foam is there to absorb small bumps, while the rebar is used to take on serious accidents.

Last time I checked.. It's not illegal to take out styrofoam from a car...

Personally, I have an aftermarket kit..I am screwed either way.ahha
dont use expandable foam, if u use to much it will expand and possibly crack the bumper
