Hit a concrete sidewalk today - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #15154 17 posts Started by psyko
yep, i like to play around and skid around turns and stuff, well this turn was on a hill and i entered way to soon. in short i hit the sidewalk that was about 6 inches high, first the front right tire, then the back right tire. the front one, a chunk of the rim is gone, the rim is touching the breaks, which means the breaks prolly cracked. it is also at a very nice inward angle, where the axle connects to the suspension is bent a good ways down, i have no idea what it is called. the rear isn't as bad, it's just bent a lil inward, i think that is easy to fix. man i was not happy. stupid me stupid me. oh ya when i press the breaks, u just feel this release of air, and it goes to the floor, man it sucks. also body shops would be the best place to take this to right?

ouch - good luck and hopefully you have a fat wallet
I wouldnt go to the mechanic, but the way your discribing everything.. i would go to a mechanic.. or Learn it yourself.. That shouldnt be too hard at all.. but if you dont work on cars, get someone with you that does..
My brother hit a curb and bent his frame, if u have frame damage ur looking at least $500, that doesnt include the new suspension or rims.

there is definitately frame dmg, and the rear tirerrods and bent, taking it to a body guy on mon. i took it to a mechanic and he just kept telling me my rear brakes were messed up, he was a dumb ass. anyway i took it to a break guy and he saw the frame and said the breaks look fine to him and there is nothing he could do. so next off to the body shop.
err you may want to tell your insurance agent that you were swerving to miss a deer or someones pet and get them to pay for it.
lair lair pants on fire...

lol, man that really sucks, if there is frame damage and they have to straightin it, and have to replace alot of suspension parts, and brakes and wheel(s) your looking at an easy $1500 (IMO, im not exactly sure whats wrong w/ it, but i do work part time or better yet lol like 2hrs. a week, haha, in a body shop, and frame damage can be alot more than you think, you could have a twist or a swap not just a little bend).......
man that really sucks. yeah i would lie and try and get your insuance company to pay for it somehow. the swerving in hope of missing someone pet might work...it couldnt hurt to try right?
it would work if i had collision on it, but i don't, just liability, collision would of cost more in a yr then i paid for the car. and i'm not up for insurance fraud anyway >smile.gif>
I am pretty sure that swerving to miss a deer would fall under liability.
Evidently i need two new front struts, streering knuckle, rear adjusting rod, and front hub with bearing. anyone know where i can get any of this stuff cheap? >frown.gif>
junkyard is my only guess or find someone who's totaled there car
you can try

Car Parts Online - Junkyard Jammin'

that gets you ahold of a national junkyard database. Should be able to get a lot of those parts from there. I would NOT get the shocks there, though. Replace those with new ones.
