i was just wondering how much you guys spend on your suspension. And 1 question. Lets say i have the coilovers with me and i wanted to install them at a local shop, about how much would it cost? Sorry, i don't have any shop experiences since i do most of the mods by myself. Thanks

My coilovers costed me $125 for installation at a local shop a while ago.

I did the work myself. If you have access to a hoist, try it. It'll take 4-6 hours depended on experience with tools.... but the difficulty level isn't that high. Read the how-to article.

I did my neons myself, and will be doing my celicas soon. Very easy to do, just have a day clear, and make sure you have all the tools ahead of time. Kind of hard to run to town if you have 2 tires off and the car in the air!
I did call around first and Midus told me something like 35 per tire???? But I was afraid to let them touch my car and screw it up (remember...I live in the middle of nowhere)

alright, so the guy at the shop saids i need better struts or him to install the springs. i don't know much about suspension so what will be a good company that is not that expensive? I have Kokiko in mind but any other suggestions?

edit: i mean Tokico

The only companies that make struts for our cars are koni and KYB. Koni has 8-way adjustable yellows for around $170 or so a pop. The KYB's are just oem replacements and far cheaper. I'd say go koni.

Get some nice tires too. Those made a killer change in my handling. Eagle F1 gs-d3's

yeah i don't think Tokico makes struts for our cars. So i'm thinking about getting Koni. These are good struts right? So what will happen if i got some really cheap coilovers? Performance will be horrible? The coilovers i have is a nameless brand so i'm worried.

KYBs are not cheap, they just aren't adjustable like the konis
it's a $200 or $600-700 thing

the konis are much more practical because you can set them ready fordaily driving through the week then track driving on weekends, but the KYBs will always be at a calm middle >smile.gif>
KYB's will never be at a calm middle. They will ride like brand new OEM shocks.
i think of OEM as a calm middle
and caddies to be the calm of calm >smile.gif>
which is more expensive? Koni or KYB? And were is a good site to order from?

koni is much more expensive.

Ground Control Coilovers $400
Koni Yellow Shocks $600

suspension alone cost me a grand...but soft smooth ride...priceless

what about installation price for the KONIs in the rear
or did u do that urself
(total, i just thought rear was a pain)
All i know is that paid 45 for each KYB shock, $180 total. and i think 200 bucks for someone to install (50 a corner). Toyota wanted like 250 a shock or something INSANE!! But the kybs feel great, a hell of alot stiffer and tigher then my old shocks, but hey maybe it's just cuz they are new, we will see in a couple of yrs. >smile.gif>
i went with sprint lowering springs. there so nice need better tires. but i only paid 200$ for my springs installed.
