I have posted on turboing my st, but have came to the decision to do a performance rebuild on the engine first. I have about 3k to put into the rebuild, and I am not sure thats enough since a mechanic will be doing the rebuild. Well basically I want to know it 3k will be enough. Does anyone know any good helpful web sites with good info and parts.

get ARIAS pistons from a 4age engine.......
and keep your stock flywheel just shave it down to like 10lbs or so
and keep your stock flywheel just shave it down to like 10lbs or so
how much of a difference would just a lighter flywheel and pistons do?
the difference in the flywheel will be just that you can accel quicker than you could stock.....the pistons will be stronger and may change compression depending apon application
don't forget that the lightened flywheel is very hard to drive around town, and the lighter you get, the more torque you loose. I'm pretty sure the GT has a stock 18 pound flywheel, i don't know about the ST. But i think coomer was removing his 9 pound flywheel because he basically can't stand it.

Well I am looking to Turbo my ST, but it has about 150k miles on it. I have came up with a good list of options I can do, but my final decision is to keep the engine. I would like to know what I need to do in the re-build make the engine be able to handle more than 10psi or if it even possible on budget of 3k for a rebuild.
seems to me if you have 3k for a rebuild and another 3k for a custom turbo you might as well do a 3sgte swap... ?
Yeah it does seem that way but I don't really want to do that. That is a way most people take. I think I would rather do something different, but that has crossed my mind. I think I would rather work on the engine I have though rather than getting a new engine that might have problems. But a swap has came to mind I just think I want to take a different path. Even if the results aren't as good.
dude 10+psi on a 7AFTE! that'd be awesome, your gunna need forged internals and all but that'll be awesome.
???? Are you going to be doing the rebuild yourself? cause you could buy a kit for like $400? or so, and forged internals, larger injectors, and all you should still be under $3k

Well I will not be doing the work myself because I really don't have the time. I do think I could, but I don't have the time to. But this is a project I wanna get this project done even if I am not doing all the work. The fuel system work and the Turbo is all I am going to work with, but I don't have the time or experience to screw with internals. But I really do want to deal with a swap. But does anyone have info were I can get the parst I need?
Damn I hate typing while allergies are acting up. Sorry for the screwed up sentences people.
heh dont feel bad most of us cant type anyways... but um look up to engine swaps (STICKIES), they have alot of info. and places you can buy parts and such. or did you mean to say your DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH A SWAP? anyways, lol if you have someone else do the rebuild your looking at atleast $2k (thats a guestimate), but then if your still going to turbo forged pistons/rods w/ installation you might be able to break even at around $3k.
Yeah, I said I don't want to deal with a swap. But are you talking about all around for the re-buld and turbo or just estimating that the re-build itself could be 2000-3000
take a look six posts down and you can see what edo did.
after he dynos his car and puts it all back together when ever his vacation ends i will probably do the same thing as him.

Thats cool. That is what my goal is. Right now I am just doin the research and gathering info. I was refered to a book called "Forced Induction" does anyone know of anyother books that will help me out. And what can I do about rods with this engine. I already know were to get pistons.

New Toyota project coming soon...
Coomer, maybe you should let them know about your personal experience with that lightened flywheel of yours.

well tring to get back to subject. I have the 94 ST auto. Should I go with a setup like edo's or does anyone have any other advise I can do. I don't want to get ride of a good engine though I would like to keep this one.

Well as I asked earlier. I was refered to a book called Forced Induction. does anyone know any other books that would be a good resource?
