Topic #16185 203 posts Started by playr158
hey, thanks to OREO i believe we came aware to the ALL carbonfiber hatch for the supra. well i talked to the guy personally via IM and asked about a celica one.
he said "i am open to anything new" and is willing to work with us on this.
He is willing to create a 100% carbonfiber rear hatch for the 94-99 toyota celica HATCHBACK....no coupes or verts....sorry you want that you need to contact them lol.....but if you are interested please reply as i told him i'd try and get a list going. he is currently backed up right now but i told him i was just doin some information recon. the ruff weight is 9lbs(the supra was) you can hold it with your pinky finger.... they have NO ruff cuts its all smooth and VERY WELL constructed please check out the link for the supra as a referance to the product....
they sell the supra for 880$ so expect a relativitly good sticker price on this...maybe we can get him to do better if i get a good sized group in on this

I do have a question. What about the glass? How hard would it be to transfer the glass from our hatch to the new cf one? Or does it come with the glass? From the pics, it looks as if it doesn't.

it shouldnt be very hard, but if you are going with a cf hatch then you would probably get something lighter than your stock glass. like say plexiglass? is that lighter? lol umm... what else.... clear plastic like from plastic bags.... lol just kidding...
I kinda like my rear wiper.... dont know i might be in

I will return one day.
$880?
say 600 and ill be very interested...
is there a way we could find out price say 15ppl joined? 20? n such
yea i can talk to the guy tomorrow....since this is in the very baby stages i can't get a defenite price obviously....but your stock glass will glue in just as it does on your stock hatch....the weight savings is awesome and i think will be very worth it
Ehhh.. if there's no wiper.. I'm out. I really love that thing. >frown.gif> But if there is.. I'M IN! Still depending on price though.

i can have the guy build in the rear wiper

maybe we can work it out to be an option to have the hole for the rear wiper or not to have it
no no...rear wiper sux!
>tongue.gif>
use Rain-X >smile.gif>

if you really want it, iunno about c/f but im guessing you can just drill through it(since ive seen ppl put the hood pins through theirs)
There's a guy on the MR2 boards that lays CF and he would also take on this job. If someone talks to him you might get a better price.

the material is called Lexane
i was talking to this abouta bud, and he said Lexane is a real light glass-like material...what they use in Nascar.
where are we up to in this?? whats the price again and if everyting goes through how long will it take to produce?
btw, id much rather go with a company that does this so if there's any problems its not too hard to get the $ back...
lexan is a great material...i use it for a bunch of projects i do for random stuff...extremely strong and nearly unbreakable...i dunno how the defroster would work on it though...that might be tricky...also puting tints on it might be interesting...depending on how much this ends up being i might be in for it later on down the road when im not a broke a$$ college student >rolleyes.gif> >frown.gif> >rolleyes.gif>
ok well i'm just waiting to see how many people are interested by the end of the week....that is the 18th of september then i will contact the company and talk to him in more depth about this project.....the supra sells for 880$ so i'm goin to try and get 600-700$
also, how strong will this be
there's something wrong with my hatch it seems to where ive always had to slam it kind of hard to close all the way.

i just dont want to crush it when i give a little elbow grease

im not 100% keep that in mind
