from a cold start ill drive out of my driveway donw my road, down another road then onto a 50 mph road. when i get to about 40 mph i expect my car to shift to 4th gear, but it doesnt, so ill be ending up at 60 mph ( i speed lol ) and still be in third gear , not accelerating. 15 seconds after it will kick into 4th. this only happens on cold starts ..... whats going on here

I think all toyota auto trannys do that when they are cold

If its just at cold starts its porbibly just a small glitch or something, try reving it in the driveway and maybe just letting it worm up befor running it cold.

my moms van did that but all the time, I think she ended up having to get the trany rebuild, but anyway, if it keeps up just talk to a mechanic about it. probibly a good idea anyway rather then waiting for it to get worse if it is something.

actually mine does the same thing, i dont really worry about it though because like you said, after like 15 secs it goes away
