what if you took the late model 3S-GE top end (with VVT-i) and put in on the 3S-GTE?

would you have toyota reliability on a turbo motor with VVT-i?

or am i just an idiot and there is an obvious reason it won't work.

my signature is the coolest.give me your celica.
possible but not worth it. variable cam timing isn't beneficial for boosted vehicles.
There is no way to work..... >smile.gif> What a wild block have to do with the low compression block of the 3SGTE???...I think its nice move if you take the block from a 3SGE(VVTI) and put it on a 3SGE non-VVTI block... >smile.gif> you could have better results......
If you want to extend the duration with wilder camshaft profile HKS and JUN has very nice camshaft kits for 3S block >smile.gif> and trust me...its cheaper.
or you could buy a 10$ boost controller off ebay and get 10x the gain VVT-i would give u, in just a baisc 3sgte.

VVTi is like computer controlled cam gear...

But i thought the Supra has a VVT-i? Or is it the VVTL-i?

Edit: what's the difference?

my sis 95 supra has vvti
PFi, HHH, RT1, fib fib... hahah us non-3sgte are like huh?? >biggrin.gif>
If you check out any race vehicle from honda or toyota, you'll see that neither of them have vtec or VVTi. Regardless of turbo or NA. More aggressive cams don't have variable valve timing. Turbo charging a car with vtec or VVTi, won't reach full potential because the cams have too much overlap.
