autometer c2 gauges not working. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #16785 14 posts Started by rjbibeau
hi i'm running into some problems with installing my autometer c2 boost and A/F gauge. both are electronic gauges. first off the boost gauge is all wired and the map sensor is connected to the vacum line. when i turn the car on the gauge recalibrates itself meaning that is has the power source the stays on between acc and actually starting the car. but the gauge doesn't register the the vacum it just stays at zero. i'm not sure what is wrong.

with the A/F gauge there are three wires coming from it. o2 sensor wire which i have soddered to the 3rd pin on the top row on the 2nd clip from the left. and the white wire which is connected to my glow gauges so they turn on with my lights and the red wire which i have connected to the cigg lighter wire along with the boost gauge positive wire. but this is the odd thing the A/F gauge reads the o2 sensor reading only when the lights are off. when you turn the lights to parking the A/F reading light dimmens. and when you completely turn on the headlight the a/f gauge light won't show up the just turn off. anybody have any suggestions thank you

Something is screwed up with ur A/F gauge, you are missing something or connected something wrong. The black wire is a ground wire, if, violet is o2 sensor, white lighting, red goes to 12v ign. switch.

On the boost gauge, are you sure you have a good vacuum going to the MAP sensor?

the boost map sensor is hooked up right before and inline on the same hose as the stock map sesnor hose. and that hose leads to the intake manifold. i was thinking the same thing you were so i started the car and unhooked the vavum hose to the map sensor then the car started to idle low and then all of a sudden turned off. so there is vacum in the line so there aren't any leak somewhere.

so with the ignition switch what would i hook it up to then. it has to be something that stays on between acc and actually starting the car. i'm assuming the cigg lighter is like that right.....

It seems like nobody knows how to help you with this, I'd refer you back to the directions and check all ur connections.

been there done that even emailed autometer but they haven't responded yet.
You probably got the C2 cuz they're cool looking but IMO mechanical is always better.

i wouldn't say that... their both good qualtity.
I wasnt talking about quality, autometer is autometer, good electric or mechanical. I just like simple stuff more, less can go wrong. With mechanical its gauge to vac source and ur done.

Just preferences I suppose.

ya your right the boost guage would have been easy and is more reliable the elctronic as you can see the probs i'm running into. but i wanted all of the guages to match and i didn't feel like having oil squirt in my car if it were to come undone
alltight the A/F just all of a sudden just turned on so that is working.. kinda wierd. but boost/vac is still not workin....
