retard timing? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #16885 13 posts Started by Hanyo
how do you retard the timing on an obd II 7afe ecu for a force induction set up?

i might as well add to this...

does port and polishing the 7afe head affect its ablility to pass smog? what about increasing compression?

obd-ii is non intrusive; it can't change the functions of the car.
thanks for the reply shid,

but you do not own a 7afe and you dont know what i am talking about.

pre -obd II distroputers allow you to loosen the bolt so you can turn the distributor so you can retard or and advance the timing..

obd II distributer do no have this function.. you can not loosen this bold and turn the distributor.. the distributor can not move for adjustment. (at least to the extent of my knowledge)

let me repeat it agian for those that do not understand..

i specified obd II cuz the distributor cant be adjusted like obd I..

ya really that is a good question with obII how in the heck are you supposed to retard the timing...
i did a search i beleive you can buy a crane retard timing unit or msd not sure if they work on obd 2 vehicals and http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ic/ic80040.htm i came across i dont know if it will help but has info on obd 2 stuff

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
Hanyo, your original question was how do you retard timing using OBD II; which I took to meant you wanted to hook a computer up and program your ECU with it to retard the timing, to this I told you OBDII is non instrusive (as OBDII is the same (minus interface differences from Toyota to Ford etc) on every car.

There was really no need for the "you don't know what you're talking about reply" since I answered your question, just not in the way you wanted it.
obd2 is pretty good about puting your timing where it needs to be
