allright i got ahold of a map sensor from a guy from the mr2 boards. when i wnet to hook it up without the turbo on yet just to see if it worked.the plug fit nice, but when i went to start the car is was idleing low and jerky then it smelled pretty bad then it just shut off wtf is the deal here. i'm just getting no luck i thought it was supposed to be plug and play. ohh ya the part number of the sensor is

89420-17030 it came from a 93 mr2 turbo

i'm kinda dissappointed cuz i'm so close with the 5sfte project.

when i tested this map sensor should i have disconnected the battery... does the ecu store the map sensor info for when it shuts off in it's memory so it uses that last reading in conjunction when the engine gets started up again......
So where's it go? does it attach to a vacuum line?

think it maybe has something to do with you not running boost

Former: 96 GT 5 speed(i/p/e)Fate-rear ended by mack truck00 GTS 6 speed(i/ Bored TB 63mm - 68.5mm w/ butterfly/ Ported IM/ IMG/ PFC/ Commander/ datalogit/ Ported & heat wrapped Header/ Decat/ UEGO/)193FWHP 14.2(1/4mi) @98mph, 2.12 60ft (just intake, unbolted Exhaust, and gutted)Fate-side swipped by 18 wheeler at 75mph.Next: maybe an elise
do you think so..... has anyone else tried this on their NA celica. or didn't you guys test it before you put the turbo in???
mines work just fine...then again i bought mine brand new from toyota themself for 100 bucks...i work at toyota that's why it's that cheap real price goes to 240
do you have the same part number as me??
did you install it before the turbo to see if it worked or did you do it during the install???
i did it before i putted on the turbo just to try it out and then again during putting the turbo in.
any your car just started right up then huh. what do you think is my problem a bad map sesnor?
i'm not really sure...but i'm pretty sure that the sensor can't be messed up i mean what are the odds of that happening...try it again when you put your turbo on ask other 5sfe turbo guys about this i just recently putted mines on so i only know a little here and there.
allright thanks for your input though

i'm doing a 5sfte project and the map sensor is like my last thing to get. allright i went to the junkyard today and picked up an all trac map sensor since the mr2 turbo map sensor didn't work for me. i tried it out in the parking lot of the junkyard and it started the car up but ran a lil rough maybe like 600 or so. it sounded like it was missing so then i reved it a lil and about the 1500 mark it bogs down a lil bit. would this be the point that the wastegate would start to close and the turbo starts to spool. when i was testing this the A/f was not registering. whats going on here. also i tried it again when i got home from the junkyard and tried it again and this time it was really bogging down like it had nothing there and it smelled like poop haha well i don't know what to do. the all trac map sensor part number is 89420-20140 any ideas thanks guys
