cleaning stock wheels of brake dust - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #16921 9 posts Started by Rider
What's a good way to clean wheels of brake dust? I was thinking sandpaper could work well, but I don't know...In your experience, what worked well? Also, is there anything I can do so that brake dust won't settle on the wheels as much in the future cause right now the wheels are really old and there is a really big build-up on the wheels' lip. Thanks
i just hit them up with some soft scrub and a hard brush. i cant see a need for sandpaper.

meguires rim/wheel cleaner powers through brake dust. then use an abrasive rubbing compound and go to town.

I tried again today with Fantastik and a hard sponge and the darker dust came off. That stuff is pretty good. There is still some left on the wheels but it's not as bad as before. A good hard brush and a special wheel cleaner should do the trick.
