just replaced my old t3 with a similar model, because of shaft play and clicking noise. so i drove around for about a week fully stock. had no problems what so ever. so i put on the new turbo, and im getting the clicking noise once again, as well as the same old problems, smoke coming out the back, and extreme oil leaking. none of these problems existed while it was on stock. also its a brand new turbo. if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it. i work 60 hours a week plus go to school 16 hours, so i really need this problem resolved. thanks

Can you take CLEAR pictures of your drain line, and how you have your feedline connected for me? That way I can tell you what's going on. Also, what oil do you use and what boost controller do you have? If I turned off my Profec B Spec II, the car wouldn't boost but the wastegate would open and I could hear a clicking, clanking noise. I need to know how your stuff is...I'm getting another engine and I don't want to break it also, hehe. We wanna make sure your stuff is good before it breaks on you. >

ill try and take some pics today. i use 10w50 full synthetic. my friend was advising me to try 20w50, what do u think??
20W 50, you won't like it. It'll feel like someone put many pounds on the car. (to me it did anyways)

Synthetic, it doesnt CAUSE leaks, but the oil can penetrate more than standard oil. Synthetic protects better and breaks down slower, its a give and take relationship.
As for the turbo, nothing should be clicking, take the intake off and start spinning the compressor wheel, check for shaft play and make sure the fins arent touching the housing.

Oops sorry I meant I'm using 10w30 full syn, not 10w50. There's no shaft play. Turbine spins freely. Smoke comes out the back only when accelerating above 3k rpm or if I punch the gas hard for a couple of seconds. Clicking all the time but not very loud unless I accelerate.
turn off the car and spin the fan see if it clicks at all then check if there is oil in the intercooler pipes

nope, turbo fan doesnt click by itself. theres a lil bit of oil in the pipes, but i think its been there from the last turbo i had in. doesnt look fresh.
Do a comp check. Might be your pistons or even a valve.

the thing is, when i take the turbo off, it went back to normal. no problems at all. no smoke, no clicking noise. drove like a normal car. and its not a defective turbo or nothing. pretty much good as new. i even took a look at the inside when i reclocked it. nice and clean.
I use 20W-50 VR-1 Racing since my engine not only burns fuel, it also burns oil and a lot, hahaha. It lasts me for about 3-4 days before refills. >>

But yeah, do a compression check...this engine is fragile from my experience.

Well I fixed the clicking. It was actually coming from the exhaust manifold not being tightened all the way. Hahaha. Now all I have to worry about is the smoke. I got a mechanic to check it. Its not coming from the engine. Nothing is worn, piston rings, valve seals, etc. But it is oil that is being burnt. Gona be testing it all week and problem checking different possible sources.
