changing interior light color - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #17138 16 posts Started by neoklis
Hi,

I have seen this leds sold by speedhut that you can change the panel and dash color. see this

quite a chiep mod but if this works it would be what i want. I really dont like the green (stock) and i got speedhut gauges custom in green for this reason. i would really like to change everything to blue.
i used leds from autolumination.com.. far cheaper.. also try ultrabrightleds.com..

all the interior lighting (dash, console, hazard lights etc) in my GT is now blue with the air flow indicators now lit with red led's..
Is it easy to do? any pics? the speedometer lights change too, correct?

I changed the 3 bulbs in the speedo for 2 people at the UK show this summer - took me about 20 mins per car. The longest bit is checking you get the bulbs the right way around (so they are properly polarised) and they light up.

The smaller ones in the climate control are a sod to do and you need to take it to pieces to do - bank on about 3hrs for that bitch of a job !

the hazard light switch on the drivers side vent is a piece of piss.

Neoklis Few members of our club made this kind of change, when we meet again remind me to ask from them to show us how it looks like(but it has to be at night) >tongue.gif> >tongue.gif>
Mine are all Blue to include climate control
ok. good to know. I need to change that piece of crap gauges i got from speedhut anyway so prolly everything will be blue in the future.

I have a question concering the interior lights. The ones on the doors are red. Does anybody know where to get new lens covers for those to change the colors of them?? Just wondering. Thanks!
I'd like to know if anyone has tried this with UV lights... I was thinking it might look pretty sick. I just ordered a few UV's that I'm going to try out. Wasn't that expensive so I won't be too disappointed if it turns out bad.
I changed to light of my clock today. I took it apart and sprayed the digital face with transparent blue paint. I also took the amber plastic lense off and replaced it with a clear one. I tried to use blue lenses for everything but they were too blury. Painting and using a clear lense was the way to go for me

For some of us that are a bit lazy, wouldn't painting the face of the clock with a blue marker have just about the same effect?

I have taken the panel out more times than i can count and i know how many things need to be taken out just to get the clock out.
the clear lense was a just a piece of plastic from a set of markers I bought. Any thin clear plastic that is on anything you buy from a store (like a bottle of soda). I didn't use a soda bottle but I am just giving an example of what kind of plastic to use. Thin and clear. I just cut it and hot glued it in place.
