Yesterday I spent 4 or 5 hours hunched over in the trunk of my coupe putting on layers of dynamat to stop some annoying rattle coming a little bit from the license plate and a little from the upper left rear fender (gas cap area, w/e you want to call it), but after all that work there was little to no change. The rattle is still there, loud as ever, and there is a full layer of dynamat extreme in that area, and 2 layers on a lot of the trunk, including the trunk lid.
Has anyone else had this problem? I had it before with the original dynamat but I thought using almost a whole bulk pack of extreme would solve it. Anyone that has gotten their trunk to be near silent when the bass hits please let me know if you had to do anything special in that area, because I'm starting to lose faith in dynamat, and I need to know if I should change to something else before I start work on the interior.
And about the interior, does anyone have any tips on removing the roof lining? I haven't started this stage yet, but the rattling I hear on the inside seems to be coming from that area, so I'm going to check that out first. Thanks everyone.
My friend had the same problem...I think theres a way to secure the plate/gas cap/trunk where it doesnt rattle any :\ ill tell you if i find anything out
How many layers are over the entire trunk?
Furthermore, did you take the bumper piece behind the plate off? THats what causes the rattle- you need to stuff that entire area

i bunched up some layers of duct tape behind my license plate and that seemed to cure it.

try putting another layer or 2 on the left side, around the gas cap area, just an idea :\
