Το ασημί έρχεται πρώτο στις προτιμήσεις των αγοραστών σε όλο τον κόσμο. Αυτό είναι το αποτέλεσμα σχετικής έρευνας που απέδειξε πως το 27% όλων των νέων αυτοκινήτων στον κόσμο το 2004 έφεραν το συγκεκριμένο χρώμα. Το ασημί, μάλιστα, παρουσίασε αύξηση σε σύγκριση με τα στοιχεία του 2003 κατά 3%. Κόκκινο και άσπρο μοιράζονται τη δεύτερη θέση καθώς προτιμήθηκαν από το 14% των αγοραστών. Το μαύρο ακολούθησε με 13%. Συνολικά 12% των αυτοκινήτων ήταν μπλε και 5% ήταν πράσινα. Τα υπόλοιπα χρώματα κατέλαβαν συνολικά το 11% της αγοράς. Πρέπει να σημειωθεί πως σε κάποιες χώρες το ποσοστό των νέων ασημί αυτοκινήτων ξεπέρασε το 38%.
