Handbrake Adjustment - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #17802 21 posts Started by gnetik
My handbrake has to be pulled up way too high for it to take effect. I want to adjust it down to like 4-5 clicks. Does anybody know how I can adjust the hand brake? Thanks
yea theres a lil bolt to the right side of the handle just tighten it or loosen it to your specs. to get to it just push the rubber fitting that goes around the hand brake aside.

the adjuster is a little spindle on the bottom of the e-brake assembly. If you've never done it, let someone take you through it the first time. After that you should be good to do it when ever you want.

adjusting at the hand brake itself only adjusts the cable. If you got rear drums, the shoes are actually used when braking. If you adjust at the brakes, you're actually moving the shoes closer to the drum, and this will result in a better response in your brakes.

ctually for the e-brake there rear drums on both models the gt has a rotor. but if you rip up that e brake theres a lil drum behind the rotor.
So how do we go about doing this on a GT with out messing with the inside of the car. Like, what bolts need to be removed, where are these bolts (i just came inside, and there is only one bolt on the bottom side holding the caliber, and i can't find the other one) and what else needs to be done.

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
Yea, i'm just as stuck as spunky...., anybody have any input?
hey i wanted to also tighten up my e-brake. by reading this im still not sure on which method to do. i think i will just adjust the cable by the handle. is it that simple to do???
Can someone give us some full and clear directions on how to adjust the handbrake from the wire/spindle?
first adjust hand brake level that you want when its on. then screw this adjustment blod as you can. you may need a special tool. or if you can remove that plastic cover betwen seats it would be easier
