Another GT4 bonnet Question, NEVERSTOP help please - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #18147 14 posts Started by kevstir
Hi guys i was just going to pm neverstop this question but his inbox is full lol.

Iv just been offered a bonnet for mines in the right colour for a nice price woo hoo. what i want to know is it just a straight swap or will i have to ask the guy for the hinges as well , iv tried searching the forums but most things i found were people asking the same question and getting told to do a search lol.

Once i get the bonnet i will do a proper writeup as there seems to be a lack of one .

As the guy who im getting the bonnet from mashed up the bumper im still on the look out so mines will have the gap but in the pictures it looks ok to me ..

Thanks

Kevstir

The only thing you will need to modify is the latch that holds the bonnet to the front bumper. The latch of the GT-FOUR bonnet is much too short and does not hold it shut. It might fly open while on the highway. Someone correct me if im wrong.

i asked NS about the hood latch issue at the meet we were at, and all he had to do was push the hood down to close it. otherwise, it fit great. very small gap in between the hood/bumper. should be a straight swap.

thanks sinner, the guy is going to through in the latch mechanism just to be on the safe side , mines looks a bit to rusty anyway so could be doing with getting replaced >biggrin.gif>

Also managed to get the rear GT-FOUR strut brace cheap too WOO HOO

i think.

dont hold me to this

but the hood should fit just fine. the only time you need to modfiy the latch is when you have the gt4 bumber one. because the gt4 bumber has higher there so the safetly latch will need to be extended.. you can PM BlackCelicaGT94
PM presure2. He has the set up and could probably answer any question you have

In past i had in my celi a gt4 hood iwth the stock gt bumper.....
i have drived for one year without opening problems.....

And now i'm thinking for back at the old style with
gt4 hood
&
gt bumper

I'm bored by gt4-look all around..

yup, with stock bumper the latch doesn't need to be touched, look in my profile, you'll see the gap but it looks great. Once its painted it'll be even less.

I have no prbs with the stock latch.. I just have to make sure that it "clicks" twice when I shut the hood and I have to gently press down on it while oping it but other than that I have no probs... neither does kung fu who also has the GTFOUR hood

well looks like im not so lucky, i picked up the bonnet yesterday but forgot to pickup the latch mechanism , i fitted the bonnet today but it defo needs the gt4 latch as it wont click right down, the guys sending me the gt4 one so no big deal.

Looks so good though >biggrin.gif>

i test fitted my hood, and it wont close down at all for some reason, i have to get that checked. oh wellz need to repair my bodywork first before i can confirm anything =p
well here's the thing push it down as far as u can ( dont bend the hood) and see were the latch scratches the hoods loop, then with your hand just bend the latch to adjust( it won't be hard to bend just slightly) and it'll close just fine.
