what cards do u have running it? i just got the Nvidia 6800 OC, and was wondering wether it will run good wit my **** or if i need the 6800 GT/ultra

I'm in love, for the 2 min of game play at a time (befor my pc crashes) its the best.
I have been working on making a map for cs:s since i cant really get anywhere in hl2 untill i figure out my pc. any ideas for a cool map, I've started a under ground temple (dust theme) where the t's start outside, and fight to the main room a few floors down, where they have to bomb, cts are temple security.
I'm currently running my ati 9200 se and i still have problems (it does put up some nice graphics will little to no lag befor it crashes) so my geforce fx 5700 se oc is not causing it. I just bought a new case with a real airflow design for a change, it should help with heat, but untill i get xp (I bought it but has not shipped) i'm stuck.

Ya that does sound like a typical heat issue, maybe try playing with your side panel off and a fan blowing in there, Ive heard people do this and lower there temp substancially, I wouldn't reccomend doing it much though.
I don't have experience with your vga cards but hl2 is no where near as demanding a game as say Doom3 so I can't see you having to much trouble. Also try scaling down your graphic options and see if that stabalizes it.
Im glad you brought up cooling though, Im getting a liquid cooling system for christmas >> >> Cant wait!! Im not having instability problems, but lower temps mean more oc'n >>

I owned page 3!!!
I always have my side door off, i have in the past left it on but always ended up with my cpu over 130 degrese and the bios alarm going off, vga never gose over 130 with just the desktop, but can break 140 in game befor it crashes
WOOT WOOOT got xp today, and installed it, have been setting it up and installing other crap, including hl2, I only got a min to play css befor work, but with my geforce 5700 it had no problems even with the graphics all the way up, I think i fixed my problem with the vga (oOS related i guess) but i still have to keep the case door off. cant wait to get my new case, sux i paid $25 shipping (flat rate) even though its 10 miles north of me in everatte. no pickup >>

I wonder if your cpu jumpers/bios were set up wrong? If it was unintentionally overclocked it might have been over heating because of that, I had that problem with one of my first computers, the computer shop set the voltage wrong so I was overheating all the time. So if it continues, look into that

its just the case, everything cooks when its closed, but when its open its below average temp, except my vga but thats fixed now that i got xp
