Info For 7AFTE guys :) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #18422 10 posts Started by doGGy
After then Fallenhero posted topic about Civic pistons i'v made a few researches >smile.gif>

Basicly piston diameter (bore) of b16 and 7A are the same (81 mm stock)

Wrist Pin diameter is a bit different 7A is 20 mm and B16 is 21 mm

but this is not a problem >smile.gif> The only thing that need to be cleared out is 7A piston height and b16 pistons heigh...

this way we guys will be able to use forged pistons from B16, and tehy are cheaper then toyota pistons >smile.gif>)

i'll ask the performance shop near me they should have some pistons on hand

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
ok, from what I have seen the regular honda pistons are Hella domed. However, the Low comp honda pistons are almost flat like 7a units, and should work pretty well. Hey doggy, did you see any info on using honda rods? That is, after all, one of the major 7a weaknesses. What is the crank diameter on a 7a? Any clue?

towards the end of this post guys were talking about the 2zz rods, pistons, etc MIGHT fit no hard facts yet. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11094&st=40

but buy the b16 low comp coated pistons with 2zz rods i wounder if it would work.

B16 low compression pistons are low compression for hondas but due to head differences they might not be so low for toyotas. Any idea on the combustion chamber size difference between b16 and 7a?

yea, that's the point. >smile.gif> You see, the stock pistons on the B16 are DOMED like huge. Thy literally have a /\ looking piston. The low comp ones should be more around the compression we would need for a higher reving NA engine. I just don't have the numbers to check on it.
i am really interested to see if these would work, that would be awesome if they do!
Thats funny so the heart of your toyota engine is a honda. isint that like jungle feaver lol. Good find though im interested to see if they work even though im almost positive im going to swap.
Honda B series low-comp pistons probably won't lower compression in the 7AFE. Just consider 4AGZ pistons are the low-comp counterparts to 4AGE pistons, which are not domed... even if the B16 lowcomp pistons are flat... they still may not lower compression. Even so... it'll make a good n/a piston... but so will a 4AGE piston... with less hassle. Good price + machining work is probably gonna be more than 4AG pistons. 4AG pistons only run a bit more than B16 pistons. Also... if you plan on machining the piston... better get forged pistons. Cast pistons tends to crack and stress...

Doggy... 2ZZGE pistons have been fitted in a 7A block (7AGE hybrid)... The rods on the other hand... are still in question...
