hey guys

with the suspension turning into rock, I thought it might be time for coilovers. And the only two that make the full coilover is Tein and Tanabe. Which do u guys recommend? I read some previous post and one guy complained the Tanabe were hard on the ass. The best deal I found for the Tanabe Type II was $1019 and $1189 for one w/ helper springs.

they're both not worthy of the $ IMO
at least as far as i cen tell the Tanabe's don't have an adjustable pre-load and Tein's don't for sure

i've HEARD of springs that allow you to adjust spring rate, white to me sounds....impossible, but the pre-load might be what the person was thinking about.

Both are good, but the Teins can be had for $800-900 when on eBay at the right time, so...i'd go Teins jsut to save the $ and basically get the same thing.

keep in mind Tein's don't have a upper-pillow mount, at all for us.

Well, i would say that if you want the best for your car you still have two options. C-One and JIC.

C-One offers the Type "G" coilovers that will fit all ST204 and AT200. Retail price with tax is $2,250.

Now, i know i remember posting some time back a link of were to get some JIC coilovers for the ST202, but i can't seem to find the link anywhere, but pretty sure they still make them and those will run you about $1,500

do the JICs have an adjustable load?

does JIC make coilovers for the celica?

i have tein ss coilovers and i love em'. at first its really harsh but thats with all new suspensions.

So are you guys getting these sorts of set-ups for racing or just so you can be lowered and still maintain a ride? 1000.00 is a LOT of money to sped on something unless you plan on fully utilizing it. Also, for those with limited performance suspension knowledge... you don't upgrade to coils sets and full adjustables if your lowering springs are too harsh. Coilovers are much much harder. Soft settings on adjustables shocks may help a bit... but it still won't feel much like stock. Just some FYI. performance suspension increases spring rates and stiffness... that's all there is to it.

i wish i had $1000+ to blow on susp...
