Test run by Intense Motorsports in Gilbert.

I'm getting lots of blowby venting out when coming to a stop. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.

Should 16% on cylinder 2 cause that much trouble? If not, what else would cause this?

Am I hurting the turbo in any way from this?

Does installing a catch can take care of all excessive blowby issues?

you have to be a little more specific about what you meen by blowby!Your compression should be the same across the board.Are thos numbers when your car is cold or hot?What motor do you have?These are thing I would need to know.

You sure it's not the turbo oil seals going?

hes got the gt motor (5sfe) and turboed it im with newbie on this one 30% of the time its the seal on the turbo so you might want to check that...

temporary solution is to put a catch can in and see exactly how much blow by is accumulating.

i have no idea about 5sfe motors but the 3sgte motor tends to have a good ammount of blowby, figure out about how quickly it is accumulating and go from there. it wont solve any problems, but it will help to troubleshoot what your problem is and how big it is, if there is a problem at all.

If the seal on your turbo is going it will look like you are burning oil out your exhaust.Add a catch can and waste more money for not solving the problem.Get your turbo checked bet check if your car is burning oil then you will know its the seal!

The turbo has been recently installed with one from a ’93 JDM Celica Alltrac Turbo ST185. Was told it had 50k mi on it.

Been checking the oil level for a couple weeks now, and if there is any consumption it is very little.

If this is the only thing it could be...then I guess I can get it checked out.

its called preventive maintanence and troubleshooting you arent "wasting money" you are spending money on a piece of preventitive equipment.

A catch can is a good idea, and I'll probably head that way...but

Someone also suggested that my PCV system could probably be setup differently, creating more of a vacuum, decreasing pressure.

Even if the oil is slipping past the turbo seals it might be because of the increased crankcase pressure, and not necessarily bad turbo seals themselves.

I posted a few more pics of my engine bay to get a better idea of what we're dealing with.

Thanks, everyone likes the look, but when I pull up to red lights and come to a stop...the smoking engine isn't very attractive >>

Oh well, hopefully I can get it fixed soon enough.
