Just got rear ended... - 6G Celicas Forums

On my way to work this morning I hopped on the highway and I was going about 20 km/hour and then boooooom from behind. I was like shiet... It was so god dam loud and the impact was pretty hard. Anyhow I get out of my car and I looked at my rear driver side bumber. Guess what I saw? It was normal. Only a little paint chip the size of a MM chocolate candy. I looked at the car that hit me and his Nissan Altima was somewhat dented. So all I did was take his phone number as well as his license plate since there was no damage.

What would you guys do if your bumber looked normal plus your in the middle of the highway?
dude make sure you get under the car and check it out...ya never know!!
i wouldnt have done it on the highway either though!! lol

bummer dude, you should check out the car or get it checked out
Yup I'm gonan get it checked out wehn I get off work. I'll let you guys know if theres any damage. Lets hope not I got my fingers crossed.
the exact same thing happened to me. I was driving and i stoped for a bus that was droping off kids when all of a sudden my friend rear ended me in a 2002 eclipse (figures typical mitsubishi drivers lol j/k brian) anyways my back end was fine and his car got screwed. his whole front end was pushed in and his hood bucked. the only thing wrong with my car was there was a mark from his licence plate and the reinfocement was pushed in. but anyways we called his insurance and thats how i got a body kit
It seems like everyone that gets rear ended is fine, its always the person that hits you that gets fugged up. I hope it doesn't happen to me, my paint job is bad enough as it is.
Well that seems to be true since most of my friends that got rear ended nothing really happened to their bumper. I guess the driver that doesn't know how to stop faces it with a busted front. Whch makes sense. If you do the hitting then you'll be the one with the damage car.
Honestly dude, if there isn't anything wrong with the bumper or nder the chassy, just don't worry about it and go to an auto zone or something and just get touch up paint and not hassle with the insurance because there is the possibilty of it going up, and also when you have to pay the deductable it will be pointless because that is about how much it will cost to have the paint shop repair it. But good luck anyway.
Okay folks I just went to the Toyota Body Shop and I jsut found out that my whole passenger side bumber has the paint all cracked. It is cracked in a whay that looks like spiderwebs. I guess I didn't notice of this at the time since I was on the highway plus my car is white. After starring at the bumber with the mechanic thats when he pointed it out to me. The repair to repaint my rear bumber would cost $565 Canadian. I'm gonna call him up later and tell him to pay for it in cash since he wants to avoid insurance.

Arggg you beat me to it White..I was just going to say to make sure you check your paint. Bcus I was rear ended and the b!tch hit me twice then drove off. And the paint on the frt stretched. Since the FRTS and RR bumpers are plastic/polyurethane the paint stretched abd caused that web like look to it.

But I think that dealer is screwing you. Bcus if that's all the damage to it then all they're going to do is strip the existing paint and repaint it. I think they just tell you you need a NEW bumper to get more $$$ outta ya...when all they really do is touch up your current bumper and tell you it's new! But the estimate the toyota adjuster gave me just to do all that cost $300. >mad.gif>
I'm probably going to hold off on repairing that until it really starts to chip...bcus you can't hardly notice it.

Good luck man...and sorry about your misfortune. >frown.gif>
he said $565 canadian which is less in real money >biggrin.gif> , also, his rates wouldnt go up if he reported, cause its not his fault.
yeah, it would, it is considered a partial loss and if the ins. company has to fork money over, you gotta see it rise just a little for 6 months. Remember, nothing in this world is free. >rolleyes.gif>
