Do you pirate games, music, movies? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #18712 25 posts Started by coustoe
I admit I pirate the majority of my stuff froom eboks, educational films, movies to games console/computer and music mp3s, anime, and tv shows.

But I do still buy a lot of books, and rent a hella lot of movies through netflix, and buy maybe 3 games a year.

I don't think theres anything wrong with what I do. Though Im beggining to feel bad especially with computer game developers, I see so many great games that dont get enough commercial success to continue, well i usually buy the game if i like it. I gotta say though 95% of the stuff out there is crap.
of course i don't. it's bad....

It isn't wrong if you still buy their merchendise..
for instance,
I have all the AC\DC DVD's (bought and paid for) but I downloaded a lot of their albums.. .

As long as you support whatever it is that you pirate, I guess it's fine..

actually, it is still wrong...in your opinion it might not be, but under the eyes of copyright laws, it's still wrong.

downloading anything that has anything to do with being copyrighted, and is a pay-per-use item, is wrong...

its all about each individuals ideals on ethics...

because basically, what you're saying is...i can buy music DVDs from a store, but, at the same time, steal the cds from the same store...

i only get music and i only get songs that i really feel that i wouldnt buy the whole cd so ill just get a song or two

Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City
I download a couple of songs from CD's that I am interested and if I like it I will buy the album. I ONLY buy games now-a-days and I copy movies onto my computer if I own them. I have a few that I rented and put on there so I did pay for it in a way. >tongue.gif>
actually downloading songs isnt illegal if you own the cd (or in his case dvd).

and i pirate everything, video games, music, tv shows, programs
im untouchable MUAHAHA

i bet i have you beat, im the d/l king.... i download everything, unless its a multiplayer game.... its too much of a hassle to find working serial keys and whatnot to get online... but single player games, movies, tv shows, it all gets downloaded... i download my music simply becuase i dont use CD's, my iPod runs music everywhere (comp, car, house) so i cant justify buying CD's to use it once >biggrin.gif>

The one thing I won't regret downloading is an OS. I just think it's BS that if you have 3 desktop computers in your household, you MUST pay for 3 copies of Windows XP... = $600 + tax.

I don't really download much of anything unless someone tells me to download a good song or something.

I pirate anything and everything I can. Why pay for something if you can get it for free? >biggrin.gif> Of course I buy books & software as well but, then again I do not care if someone looks down on me for my actions.

If it's the same songs that are on the dvd I don't see a difference.

becasue of you guys Britney spears can get the xl5! personal jet she has to settle for the xl4.
haha they still get their money. screw 'em

I think its rong to charge so much for things that cost little to no money to make, as dor cd's its cost like .05 cents to make a cd and ther artist does not make money from it so why they charge $20, its bs markup. I dont support that so I download it. as for games, i do download some but if i like it i'll buy it, the trials are such carp you know. for games like HL2 i go out and buy it, the pricees seem resonalbe to me because creating a good game is so hard, the amount of script alone is beyond hard enough but all the time and effor to make it great, $50-$60 sounds fair to me.

i think that if you make over 250k year you have no right to complane about money. NO RIGHT!!!!

Its not illegal to download, its only illegal if you turn around and sell or distribute those downloads for a profit.
no it is iligal to download without paying for it. just not easy to trace. and not worth wile eaither.
I consider theft of digital code to be a thought crime.. the only thing that you are truly stealing is the persons time and effort it took to use a machine (that is a pyramid complex...using others ideas n building upon them) to create a series of numbers that eventually are regurgitated into mediums your senses can detect. for all of time the control of information gives power....
