Cold Start on Early Mornings - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #18920 6 posts Started by jbcustom
Every morning I have to get into my car, the first time I start up it stalls or I get the accelerator going quick enough that the rpms can help warm the engine. What I'd like to find out is if there's any way that I can adjust the idle valve for start up so the engine warms up but I dont stall as soon as I pull up to a stop sign or light.
you cant adjust it.... it is set by resistors and such.... if it stalls you may need a new part.... if i had my manual i could tell you what its called

Going through the same issue, can you let us know the part that could be suspect? I was thinking it's a fuel filter issue, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
your idle is controlled by the "Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve"

the ecm is programmed with specific engine speed values to respond to different engine conditions (coolant temp., air conditioner on/off, etc.)

to see if it works use an ohm meter. measure the resistance between +B and the other terminals (ISCC and ISCO)

Resistance should be:

1994-95 models: 19.3 - 22.3 ohms
1996 and up: 17.0 - 24.5 ohms

if the resistance is not within those values, replace valve

you should really invest in a manual as there is valuable info needed to test it..... pictures help! pm your email and i will send you a pic of the page >smile.gif>
replace your pcv valve..its like a $3 part...takes 2 seconds..that cured my stalling...
changed my filter.. and so far no problems.. with cold starts... and they engien is a lot smoother.. i also moved the intake tube up a little bit so it's not complelly on the TB>..
