hi guys i attempted to do a search but came up empty handed also did a search on google but got conflicting answers.

here it goes i just purchased a oil pressure gauge but was wondering what should the oil pressure be at during idle and at WOT?

i heard at idle it should be at 25psi and WOT at 50 psi but i got conflicting answers stating that it should be at 35 psi at idle and between 60-80psi at WOT?!?!?!

any idea what it should be at for i have a 95 celica ST 7afe.

I got about 25 at idle and 50-60 at hard throttle

for the 3sgte and the 5sfe, the BGB calls for at least 4.3 at idle and 36-71psi @ 3000 RPM

The old school rule of thumb was 10 psi at idle and 10 psi per every 1000 rpm,,, with the newer synthetics and/or today's tighter tolerances, that may no longer apply. Just remember, oil pressure is a measurement of 'resistance to flow' so as long as you have any measurement, you should be OK. Some people see a slight drop in pressure readings when switching to synthetics and worry about it. This actually indicates the synthetic is flowing thru the system easier than the petroleum (and also taking less HP to pump)... Also, if you use too heavy of an oil and the pressure is high enough, you can be pushing your filter past the relief pressure and not be filtering the oil - not a good thing. I'd stick with something close to the recommended weight of 5w30. I'm using Amsoil series 2000 0W30 - no complaints.
Just got back from Dallas and Houston tonite (1500 miles at 3800-4300 rpm!) Glad I had synthetic in it. Heck, the SLOW lane was averaging 80 mph from Dallas to Houston and back.

what gauges do you guys have? brand, mechanical, electric, etc? what brand and weight of oil?

stock oil light, it'll get your attention, you have to actually be looking at the gauge before it does any good. as long as the light is out, I have enough oil pressure. On my dunebuggys I used to also wire in a motorcycle turn signal beeper so I didn't even have to notice the light...
