The management just chooses a sweet car every so often and ask them if they want to be featured and stuff. >smile.gif>

Whether or not you have a turbo or some awesome body mods!

Sometimes we live to beat the odds.-Ryanaim: rkgreen04
You have to have $5000 worth of mods, which is about the only thing I don't like about this site. >frown.gif>

Some of us are happy with the way our cars came from the factory stock, so why change what we like. And if you check out all the featured rides so far, the list of mods added is longer than the list of parts I have had to replace on my stock Celica.

Maybe I should list everything I have replaced in my profile so my list is bigger and I can compete. >biggrin.gif>

Well, the thing is, we wouldn't really want to put a stock Celica in there...it'd be like having a stock Civic featured in Import Tuner. >wink.gif>

But we're working to find more realistic rides for some of the featured rides. The next car will probably be a USDM Celica with some mild tasteful mods and no turbo or anything crazy, because we've heard that people get depressed seeing all the GT-Fours as featured rides. >wink.gif>

Oh c'mon, you know what I mean. 6G Celicas is an equal-opportunity...umm...website. >smile.gif>

ummm when i get my celi back from the shop i nominate mine with the silvia headlights and a few other things....that and its a 7afe >smile.gif>
I think it would be dissrespectful to put some ones car up there when it doesn't have much done to it when there's some other guy out there that's worked long hours and lots of money creating art out of his car. If there's ever complete restores or something else like that that take alot of effort, then I think that person should get nominated too. But I don't think someone should be aloud to buy a 6gc, put a muffler, air intake, and wheels on, and then be rated one of the top rides. You've got to put your heart into it.

In that case I nominate Greenzilla(as Doggy called it) for featured ride, it does'nt matter that it is'nt a 6 gen, alot of the cars here barely resemble one anymore anyways. >biggrin.gif>

That's pushing it way to far. I by no means ment I wanted a 5th gen as a featured ride. This is 6gc, not 5gc. And so me a featured car that doesn't look like a 6gc. Besides, it looks like West Coast Customs did that car.

I hope so, I felt bad about putting that if he was serious. I just felt like it had to be said. Cars like that should be burnt at stake, or given to women to teach them how to drive. lol, all you women know that most of you can't drive.

personally I don't like seeing a very modded car featured. Most of the body kits out there look just like any other kit for any other car, just that it happens to be on a celica this time. You could put a GT4 up there but this really isn't a site about GT4s. There are only 2 (I think) in the US.

it's not about being one of the top rated rides

you need to have a sweet car >biggrin.gif>

gas65 is correct for the most part. Someone would have to spend a boatload of money to have a "sweet" ride and be chosen to be featured. It tells everyone else, "your car is not good enough or as good as theirs"

IMO each month a new featured ride should be picked from members photos. Members would only make sure they have a nice photo of their Celica. or maybe just a featured member. Give everyone a chance to get excited and be featured.

with the current standard, 95% of the members of this site will never have a their day in the sun.

I dunno, personally I've always looked to the featured ride as inspiration. Having a featured ride that is completely stock doesn't inspire me. Now I'm not saying it needs a swap or bodykit to be of interest, it could be a meticulously cared for stock looking ride with a nice set of wheels. But it needs to have something to set it apart from the majority of rides, otherwise what would we have to look up to?

Yes, I was kidding about that 5th gen. But let me explain a few things and see if some of you see my reasoning about what I say.

Most of the people on this site did nothing but pick out the body kit and have someone else install and paint it for them. So they have spent money but have done no work per say. There are a few on this site that have actually done their own work and deserve credit for it. And if somebody actually designs a new front end using fiberglass instead of a body kit, they should get more credit than anyone. But don't put someone up on a pedalstal above the rest of us because they spent money to have someone else do the work for them, because the body kit was someone elses true work of art not theirs.

It says featured ride, not top ride. A featured ride should be something this site can be proud to say this owner belongs to our site. The owner should'nt have to had spent more on fixing up the car than it originally cost him to buy it in the first place. It could be a modded out car, a completely stock car that someone has taken very good care of, or even a car that has 300,000 miles on it's engine and still looks and runs decently. And you might even think this is crazy but a featured ride could be pics of someone's old car that is totaled out now. Yes, it sounds silly but why not?

The featured ride is on the front page of the site, I see nothing wrong with showing the world what great cars we got. A great car to me is something that that is dependable, low maintenance, looks good for it's age and mileage, and mostly something I know I will keep for many years use.

A great car is'nt how much you have spent on it to make it look like something else. If you want it to look like some other car, you should have saved your money and bought it instead of your Celica. So I think your heart was never into your car to begin with.

I have one question for everyone that thinks that a featured ride should be something non stock. Why is it once someone gets their car all modded out and engine swapped, they decide to sell it? Not everyone has, but it seems like alot have lately. I think we should feature their empty wallet on the front page, that would seem pretty appropriate. >biggrin.gif>

In my opinion I would be proud to have any of these as featured rides for our site and I will list why:

An older stock Celica maybe a 94 or 95 - to show people that even with age our cars are still running and look good.

An extreme high mileage Celica(maybe over 200,000 miles) - to show the dependability of our cars, how many other car companies can say that?

A Celica with body mods or other countries body styles(GT4) - to show different looks our cars can have.

A swapped motor Celica - to show that we can make our cars faster than stock, to intimidate the competition.

A wrecked Celica - I know it sounds bad but it will show how well designed these cars are. Most of the Celica's totaled I've heard of, the owners usually walked away with little harm.

And even a stock Celica that somebody just keeps cleaned and waxed - to let the people who run across this site doing a search, it just is'nt for modded cars we want all 6th gen owners coming here.

I hope you see my reasoning now, but don't get me wrong I do like some of the cars that have been modded, but to some of us it's not practical for our own useage. >smile.gif>

I see your guys' reasoning, and I've heard it a lot, but I still don't think a completely stock Celica really deserves to be a featured ride.

It's like a car magazine, say Import Tuner for example. You never see an older car that's stock featured in the magazine. You know you won't see one in there either, even if you do send in some photos and info to them. Yet you still buy the magazine.

Why? Because bone-stock cars typically don't appeal to the masses. People want to see something unique, something rare, something to dream about. Not many people want to see something featured when they can drive through town and see three of the exact same thing.

Now I agree that a car doesn't have be heavily modified or have tons of money put into it to be featured, but I don't think a bone stock car(even if it has 300,000 miles and a perfect body) or a wrecked Celica should be featured. >wink.gif>

That's my thinking.

New Toyota project coming soon...
I think a car with massive custom work in electronics and macintosh stuff should be the next featured ride.

hehe

i actually like my stockers...when i clean em they look better than many sets that i've seen...no clue why

agreed. thats kinda the philosophy behind the "featured ride" how should we differentiate between which bone stock car should be nominated as "featured"... well done custom modifications, stuff pushing the limits of the cars, unique, tasteful, all stuff we like seeing and like to feature for other people to get ideas off of what is featured, it should be a way to condone what those people have done for the 6gc and show our appriciation.
