convertible window shattered - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #19275 15 posts Started by obi1kinob
i was going to vaccuum my car so i put the top down. when it was going down it caught a little bit which it sometimes does. usually i just pull it back up then back down, but i kind of forced it down, and it shattered. i badly need advice on what to do. i am not looking for the cheapest way out, i'd rather go the quicker way.

please please give me some advice.
well if you are looking for the quickest way out.. one monday pull into your toyota dealer..

My back window catches sometimes too- it's common when u haven't removed the plastic thing it gets stuck to yet- but even if you haven't- it ALWAYS goes down. It only shatters if you force it.

Much to learn, this one.
in this one, i sense strong forces.
post pictures, pictures r cool.
pictures always give the imagination truth, and sometimes faulter it.
if i always do something and talk about it, i take pictures. im a picturaholic.

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
yes... pictures of busted stuff is cool. I have lots of Toyota carnage pictures.
my car is a picture of toyota carnage... lol
I have actually pulled both my rear windows out to replace the plastic wheel that rolls through the tracks. Im mechanically inclined and its a pain in the a$$. its not the easiest job to do. I would recommend you strip as much as possible...rear seats, real panels, 2 brackets and point that out to the dealer so he don't charge you for the time to do all that. i can't help you more then that without being there.
Did you mean the rear window or rear side windows? I got a extra rear window.
thanks guys, i appreciate it. i called the dealer today and he said they dont do it. so he pointed me to a guy, bob's refurbishing or something, he said he can do it for about 600+ dollars. my head is cooling and i'm starting to reconsider that quickest way out thing. 600+ is an obvious rip off.

so.. whats the cheaper option :>

edit: I meant the rear window that the convertible top has. the heated glass.

If I am right, aint that window glued in place. i bought an extra top and cut out my old glass window around the fabric. 600 is way to much! How much is the dealer charging for the glass?
ouch~ sorry to hear about that bro, hope everything goes okay for ya

dealer is charging 505.somethin for just the glass. i'm gonna have my insurance do it so i wont be paying more than 500. still pretty much ****ing sucks though. ill take some pics later.
Like i said, i have an extra glass heated rear window with tint already on it. make me an offer and its yours. i can take pics.
