Well, my "shaved door kit" just arrived today so I will be installing tomorrow. Anybody have any hints/tips before I get started?

um i've heard about using spray expanding foam on the inside around the mechanisms to protect it from getting wet so your locks don't freeze

Are you doing the bodywork on it? If so I could give some tips.

Run extra wires from one of the solenoids to the outside of you car like under the trunk. If you battery dies, you can use a drills battery to open your door. Put a layer of grease where the solenoid goes up and down. Use locking washers or locktite on the mounting bolts. You might have to cut a hole in your panel to get the solenoid in there. Shave everything, door locks, handles, antenna.

ooops I meant under the hood area not the trunk. its better hidden that way

or you can tape up the wires and put them unde your license plate.

Man that had to be the hardest thing i have done with my car yet. wiring everything up took me ALL day today to do but i finally got it. now i just need to find somebody that can weld. if anyboyd in so cal could help me out let me know.

Ok, so today when i go to start my car, the battery is almost dead. ??? What do I do to keep the poppers from draining my battery?

Really need help here. the solenoids are draining my battery and i cannot have that happening. What can i do to correct his. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

If you are talking about the sensor thingee that pushes in when the door is closed, I can tell ya what to do. You need to disconnect the plug that gives it juice. Take the plastic piece loose that's wraps around the door opening. The piece i'm talking about is the one thats right beside the popper thing in the opening, and it's the same one that the rear armrest is in. Take it loose and reach back there and you'll find where the main wires connect to the wires that go to the popper thing. Disconnect the plastic clip and you'll be set.

Theres no way your solenoids are draining your battery. That thing only gets power when you hit the button. Like flipside said, your door might not be closing all the way, and the red light in the doors are on....it happens to me or you wired your solenoids to constant hot. i cant see that happening either, so I will go with the doors not being closed all the way. With the poppers you got to actually push them close, instead of just letting the door close by itself.

i have it straight to the battery should it not be there?

What are you using to open your doors? What kind of system? alarm or another unit. Solenoid should be wired to one of these. The head unit should get power from the battery or another CONSTANT on 12v source. The solenid shuold only get power from the brain.
