can anyone that does it control it when the brake pedal kicks back? ..


i can't seam to hold the brake pedal down at the right point.. at times i'll get a nice good slide.. but then the ABS kicks in and i have to let off ...

You use heel-toe braking when loosing traction? I still need to learn how to do it at all...I need bigger pedals so it's not so hard on my ankle to try to learn. >>

get some apc carbfiber pedals... you can rasie them.... so the back and acc.. are even...

Eh, I don't want the covers...I want Sparco Grip pedals that replace the existing factory pedals(or drill through them.) >>

Thats what I just bought, and I have yet to start working on it.

Heel-toe braking/downshifting is usually used for downshifting to maintain traction balance. Usually when you brake hard into a corner and ABS is on, heel-toe braking and downshifting doesn't happen till the very end when the ABS rebounds the least. If you're mashing the brakes till ABS kicks hard and are attempting to heal-toe, you're doing it a bit too early. People use heel-tow braking/shifting differently, but usually it's not done during heavy braking...

Just intrested, who all has abs. I know I dont. But i have turns down, until i loose them lol.. no i have never lost control of a turn cept for when i was trying to see what the cr could do after loosing controle. its fun.. oh soon I wont have a celica any more.

I'll admit to heel-toeing down the box pretty much all the time. It's just smoother.

To be honest, if I'm on the brakes hard enough to trigger the ABS, I've usually got bigger things to worry about than smooth gearshifts.

I don't have ABS, its all about threshold breaking baby... a real man's way to brake >>

I Hate ABS .. Its just gay unles u have a norm daily driver, then it might be nice.

ABS is about the only driver aid I would insist on. Mine is currently non operational, and I'm not happy about it.

Can you brake every wheel to the limit? No. You have a single pedal and you modulate to the weakest wheel.

ABS can have 2 wheels on dirt, 2 on tarmac and will haul the car down a crapload more effectively than you can.

Put it this way, if F1 cars were allowed ABS, they would all run it.

It's not as much fun, and for a track toy I wouldn't have ABS. But for a road car I think it's essential.

Not so much for enthuisasts like us who take a pride and interest in their driving, but for those who don't. My mother wouldn't know what to do with a locked wheel at 80mph. Now she doesn't need to.
