Depends what kind of camera. Have you installed the software that came with the camera?
6GGT Ehmmm...i have to know what actually you want to do with your camera and your computer??You want to edit in realtime or just to watch what you captured??If you want to edit in realtime i recommend to you to get a realtime board like Matrox RTX100 Pro Suite and ingest what you captured with your camera in your pc and edit it with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5(its bundle with Matrox RTX100),make your realtime effects, slow motions, color correction and many many other things, have a check on the link i post to you.
If you just want to transfer your video footage on your pc but not in realtime you will need just a firewire cheap board and a software like premerie or windows movie if you are using windows xp.

Please try to use and a second hard drive if you want to edit in serious mode.

that USB cable is for the digital photo stick option your card has. to transfer the video to your computer you need an IEEE1394 (firewire ilink) cable and some software. Both should have come with your camera
how about read the manual ???

If you dont have a firewire port (IEEE1394) buy a PCI firewire add-on, a firewire cable & if you got windows XP, use the XP movie maker. You'll most likely need the drivers for the dv-cam & that is the simplest way to do it.
