what to do if u get a flat - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #19815 16 posts Started by DamDirtyApes
if i have my 17's (tires are 215/40/17) on and i got a flat, would it be alright to put on the stock 15 inch rim with a 185/60/15 snow tire just to get home. also would that tire fit in the spare tire well. i would check but i still dont have my baby.... tis another week at least
Yes, that would work. Just keep your speeds low and don't try taking corners fast or anything. I had to rock my spare once when one of my front tires blew out doing 50. The funny thing was that I was on my way to class, and right after class I had the appointment scheduled for Les Schwab to put on my new tires. >wink.gif>

Oh, I'm not sure if it'll fit in the factory spare tire location.

New Toyota project coming soon...
Just like a week ago I blew out a tire. I used the spare to get the rest of the way home, had no problems.
Just throw the blown tires/wheel in the hatch area. Might be a little dirty, but whatever

NASA/SCCA RX-7....currently under the knife92 Civic hatch B16 - Sold10th anniv RX-7 - RIPThe Slow Celica - Sold...and then crushed crushed due to street racing.Quote from Seinfeild: George's Boss reading a magazine: "People magazine's most beautiful people. Oh and a Celica...nothin wrong with that!"
If your spare is a different height, its best to put it on the rear and put 2 of the same size on the front (or drive axle end if its not a celica) Running 2 different height tires not only handles funny, it causes your spider gears in the differential to turn all the time, like you are turning a corner, it would be OK for slow speeds and short distances.
do u think the tire and the 15 inch rim will fit in the spare tire area?

Uhh, you already have a tire and a 15 inch rim in the spare area?
I haven't had to use it yet but I bought some of that 'gunk' stuff. it comes with a small compressor and seals the tire .. temporarily of course
shid, the snow tire has a higher sidewall than the spare tire... i dont have a car to find out right now
I dont think your Snow tire and 15" would fit there, it would be higher and the carpet wouldnt sit flush and im not sure if it would even fit the other way, as in height if the wheel was installed.
i get to sit there and what for the tow truck to show up... my jack doesnt fit under my car...
No the factory wheel will not fit in the spare tire compartment, it will fit length wise, but will stick out the top.

WARNING: the toyota factory jack will not hold, I used mine once in my garage and as I lifted it bent sideways and the car fell, luckly it bend all the way rather then sliding to a spot where it could puch through the floor or do body damage, but if i was under it, then, ouch.

Rule #1. NEVER, NEVER GET UNDER A CAR WITH A JACK HOLDING IT UP, ALWAYS PUT JACKSTANDS UNDER IT FIRST
iv had no problems with my factory jack, iv used it like 5 times now
damn someone answer me this, for the life of me i have never been able to get the factory jack out of the compartment on the right.

is there a method to the madness?
