whatever you do try not to go to Best Buy!! they installed my old alarm system and royaly messed things up.....they freyed a wire that controled my temp settings so whenever i tryed changing the temp of my car it would only be fully cold or fully hot......no matter where the dial was.....

id say like $125-150

well thats what the place in my area i go to would charge

but since id got stuff done there before i only got charged $100

How'd they manage that? The temperature control is mechanically controlled via cables attached to gears on the back of the climate control unit. >>

Anyway, I would install it yourself. Take a weekeend, strip the car completely, search the threads on this site, and you'll be able to do a far better job than 98% of alarm install places would do. >>

I took it to 3 different toyota dealerships and a few other shops.......no one knew what the heck was going on...finally this toyota shop in New Jersey was able to find the problem....they told me it was a freyed wire and hey now it works! >>

forkee i got the same exact alarm system and i payed 110$ with remote start on the car from a freind i know. but expect to pay upwards of around 110$ for a place like best buy,ultimate electronics, etc. it is a good alarm but the battery on the remote dies in like 1 month so i keep on having to replace the battery.

circuit city is a great place to go... im from indiana by notre dame and the shop here is great...all circuit city's installs are warrantied and the price isnt too bad...youre probably looking at about 120-150 once its all said and done

well, it looks like im installing it myself. good guys quoted me 350. circuit city doesn't install alarms that they dont sell, best buy wont install remote start on manual transmission. and al & ed's was already closed at 5. how stupid is that. got rejected by all the major electronics stores. the thing about installing it myself is that i dont have time to just sit and do it. i work 60 hours a week and have night classes. plus the warranty on the alarm gets voided if its not installed by a certified pro. i guess i can install it in segments since i already have an existing alarm on there anyways. wish me luck......

oh oh.. one more word of advice, be gental when turning down the shock sensor on that car alarm. I turned it too hard and broke it, ended up frying it out..

So becareful with that.

Any thought where you are going to mount the shock senser?

well im about halfway done. i took out the old alarm and was fortunate to use many of the old wires it used to tap into. plus coomer's alarm guide helped a bunch. i didn't have a black/orange wire as well. it was just plain black, maybe he might want to note that its not just a couple of people. =p does anyone kno what the white wire (from the ignition switch) is for?

the shock sensor went right where the old one was, inside and above the steering wheel column. i also installed the led it came with, the valet/maintenance/page remote button, plus the normal wires it takes to make it function like the original alarm. i ran out of time to do all the goodies, so i just wrapped it all up for later. if anyone knows, im also trying to figure out the locations of:

- parking brake wire
- parking lights wire, the alarm has one wire, which one do i connect it to?? the + or -??
- where to put the neg. armed output for starter disable/antigrind

im sure ill have more questions later but this is just whats off the top of my head.

so far so good...........i estimate my labor at this point of the installation to have a street price of 100 bucks. =p
