so i went and talked to a dealership today and i think that im going to get a dodge srt-4 I was going to test drive one but it hasnt been delivered yet so what im getting at has anyone driven one and if so what do ya think.
Just keep in mind that its dodge. I have no heard one person that has not had trouble with a dodge. I had one with low miles, it was a pos, my moms friend had a nice brand new one, was nothing but troubles...
my uncle had one, ran up the miles and nothing bad ever happend (dodge truck)
Meh, they're ok. But they're a dodge, also.. they come.. uhh.. riced
I just want a new car im keeping the celi but I am ready for a new car I want the evo VIII but I dont know that I want to pay that kind of money right now it would be nice to have a car that gets up and moves so im thinking i might settle for the srt-4
Have you considered a WRX?

New Toyota project coming soon...
yeah I have consider it also I just am not sure what car i want right now I like the wrx, rx-8, evo 8, srt-4 and I like all of them for different reasons
Wow thats a board price range.

I test drove the srt4 tho. It was a fun car. But I think it's ugly and its interior is as cheap as it comes. But for performance, They're a-ok

I was impressed, the new ones are 240hp with a 1000hp rated block - and massive potential. That car beats Evos, 350z's and Vettes with simple mods - good luck if you get it.

not much of a Fun car for daily driving...what the reviews said
since it has massive torque steer.

they're good for speed...i'd rather take a WRX though >smile.gif>
i rode in my friends SRT-4, IMO the excessive noise and sloppy suspension give you a false sense of how fast you are going. i really disliked the interior as well.

for the money, there are better choices out there... but if the turbo is all you are interested in it is still a fun car.

Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them allNo but I don't buy itLike anything you do, as anyone you areCause I'm...Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial
Ya man don't waste your money ona cheaply made car just for the power. Becasue you do know in 5 years you'll be selling it for like 4k.

ok so I changed my mind about the srt-4 I was reading on some forum for srt-4 and I dont know if it is true or not but they were saying that 05 is the last year that dodge is making the srt so now im thinking wrx.
Are those the ones based off the neon? If so you might want to check its safety rating cause the neons have always sucked. Me? I will never buy a dodge because my mothers neon was a pos after so many miles they are known to fall apart. We had to get her oil pan replaced, pain flaked off, motor issues, etc. It was an alright car for around town but after it was 4 years old (and mind you she didn't put alot of miles on it) it just fell to pieces.
Well, it is mopar.. >tongue.gif>
i considered one

until i test drove it

MASSIVE TORQUE STEER

even though it was an 04 with LSD

suspension wasnt too good

no power rear windows in the top model car, WTF?

i liked the feel it had when shifting. it was a very easy car to drive, if you did not try to haul ass

i almost crashed the car from the torque steer around a turn, luckily the salesman wasnt paying atention.

it was fast as hell, but in the end, i went with a WRX. better quality, better features, and way better drivability

srt4 may still be a neon, in the same way an eclipse GST is just a fwd eclipse. if driven right, or from a roll, they are very fast

than being said, i have only seen them run 14/15's at the track(unless they have slicks). traction is practically non existant in stock form, let alone when modded.

if you like it.. just get it... any new car can last you a long time if you take care of it.... and if anything happens to it while its still under warranty .. then you get it fixed for free.... go get yourself a new car.... but don't forget we want pics when you do..

Ya but its not the engine thats the problem, its the overall construction, neons and platforms alike are just built poorly. Anyone that knows anyone whos owned a dodge, crystler, plymoth and so on know that the cars are throw away, that wont retain value and cost you tons of money in the process of owning them.

Plus. NOTHING is covered under warrenty aanymore.
thats not entirely true about dodge, i used to have a 99 ram that never gave me any problems, i then traded it in for and 03 hemi and its given no grief what so ever....before these trucks my dad used to have dodge vans, dodge is good if you take care of it

but you guys are right most chrystler CARS are poorly built and mercedes is going in the same direction

Most american trucks are quality, they pretty much have to be since they probably take 10 times the wear and tear of a car.
I remember one of my friends aunts has a dodge neon I think 97, & now he drives it most of the time cause he can actually bare to drive w/o power steering since it failed on his aunt. >rolleyes.gif>
my mom bought a 2004 dodge neon sxt about a year ago and it hasnt had any problems at all. and that has power front windows and roll down back windows too! hahaha.
quick car for the money. Doesnt look to bad in my opionon either....but its still a neon even if it would rip me a new one
id say get it! its the best bang for the the buck tuner car out there. the motor is solid and you can make a lot of power out of it.

the funny thing is that if you ask people about the car they will say... "dont get it, its a neon", but youll never hear any real problems with the motor or the car. i give props to doge for making a turbo car for around 20Gs. i just wish toyota had something like that in their line up.

The motor might be good but the rest of the car is crap take a look at the resale value of neons in general. When I was looking at cars I could afford a 96 celica st, 96-98 non gt stang, 96 eclipse and an 01 neon. Anyone esle think that is kinda a dead give away something is wrong?
well I know for a fact that Dodge/ Chrysler sucked in the early 90's, but since they have merged with mercedes, their quality has risen. Im not saying that they aren't POS's, but you know that mercedes is making sure that the cars are better than what they were. They want to make money like everyone else, and after the merge, if they didn't make better cars, they would lose money. I figure that by 2010 Dodge/ chrysler will be way better reliabliltiy/ inside wise stuff you know.

i think the biggest mistake that doge did was to name the car a Neon Srt4. if they just dropped the neon part and slightly changed the look they would have gotten a lot more respect.

if the motor is solid, then what else do you need? suspention, brakes, etc are tipical things people mod on their cars awyway.
