wtb: stock cd player and cassette player - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #19995 27 posts Started by JStanger
Please let me know if you have the stock cd player and cassette player and how much you want for them or if you would be interested in a trade. I also have the compartment that gives you an extra shelf so you don't have a hole in your dash that I will give you if you decide to trade.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the quality of the two cd/cassette combos as far as sound goes?
if anything, since its the premium headunit, its better sound >smile.gif>
do you have everything needed to get it hooked up?
everystock onefits perfect lol thats why they say stock

oh and i had it put on in 2000 by my toyota dealer neighbor and such used for about 2 years
it should plug right into your factory plugs, but just to be sure

the plug in the back looks like this

im getting one from a member here and alll i need are two of the lil knobs that control the bass, treb, and stuff. If you can do with out those you can buy it from him and send me the knobs. Otherwise the whole unit would jsut sit in my room.

im getting it for 30 i can probably have him send it to you and you can send me the knobs and the 30 back to me. I figure since im already in contact with him it would be easier that way.

I'd like to see pics of your pioneer. Maybe a trade would work. Mine is a CD/cassette combo out of my 98 GT. I'll get pics in my profile.
I already bought one but I will be posting pictures of my pioneer and the compartment to fill up the empty space in the dash in a few days.

That works. I'm in the market for one and I already have a Pioneer CD changer.

they are all the same

Actually, they are not quite all the same, there were 10 different factory units used 94-99 years, all will fit and work. the better systems had a separate Amplifier mounted below the heater controls, best one had 2 separate amps. stock car harness plugs in to either the back of the radio or into the separate amp and there would be a 2nd short harness from the amp to the back of the radio. most units with the INTERNAL amp have some sort of finned aluminum heat sink on the back of the radio. so if you get one and the plug doesnt fit, you may need to unplug from the external amp and route the harness directly to the back of the radio or just the opposite, you may need to get the external amp and short harness piece. best to try to determine which you currently have.
Mine came with cassette only and the external amp. Original owner had an Alpine CD unit installed and they had plugged the alpine/Toyota adaptor harness directly to the car harness and bypassed the external amp. I now have a stock double din cd/cassette combo hooked to the external amp. Alpine didn't seem to have a dimmer option. just too bright at night.
Mine also had something called a "Diversity Antenna" which had 2 coax leads into the back of the cassette deck, per the parts microfiche, there is a 2nd antenna in the car body around the hatch, cant tell that it does anything better, reception is the same or worse as the Alpine with the standard power antenna hookup.

Yeah. I've asked a junkyard here in Minnesota and they were asking $150. One wound wonder if they ever sell any.
