103 mph speeding ticket - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #20024 12 posts Started by toyotatech3
one of the other technicians just got a speeding ticket, the state patrol clocked him at 103 mph in a 65mph zone, the repair order said noise at 80 mph. sucks to be him!
There's a slight difference between 80 and 103, he should get wrote up for driving a customers car that fast anyways.

I don't know...I see some gray area here guys. When I had my swap done, I asked my mechanic to REALLY get on it before I picked it up. I knew there would be times when I would be doing so and wanted it fully tested before dropping the cash.

Yeah... We have a lot of swap customers who like to have us (my cousin and I are established autoX drivers) push their cars. There's even a small clear area where we occasionally do cone runs and stuff... but it's all at the customer's discresion.

well i got more info, the service manager was with him, he said he had to do 100 cause they could'nt hear it at 80 very well, he goes too court in feb, heres the funny part, the car belongs to a sheriff from another county. he called the owner and was complaining when we told we would'nt fix after the ticket, so the owner drove the car while the tech listened for the noise.
a hah ha ah ahhahahahaahhaahahahahha

this must be one of the funniest excuses/coincidence i have ever heard.
Make sure to let us know what happens when they go to court, I can't wait to hear what happens. If they get away without a fine, that will be my next excuse to get out of a ticket. "Sorry officer, I was just testing this customers vehicle who says it makes noise at 120". >biggrin.gif>

It's actually not uncommon for shops to beat on the car after doing something to it. Like kwanza said, ya sorta have to. You know the customer is, and you have to know how it performs inside and outside.
