new clutch.. what kind and where? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #20386 6 posts Started by Dacoolguychris
The clutch in my celly is bad now and i need a replacement quick..

i am new to this so i was wondering if i could get opinions as to wheter i should just get a replacement stock clutch since i don't plan on putting a turbo on my car... or if i should spend the little extra cash to get a sport/racing clutch since i do drive mostly pedal to the metal....

i need some ideas as to what kinds of clutches i should be looking at... BTW i have a 99 GT celly..

oh and one more question about how much does it cost to pay someone to install a clutch?

thanks for the help guys

A stock clutch is perfect for any kind of driving. If you had a lot of mods to your car then yeah go for an aftermarket clutch, but I don't se why you would since your car is mostly stock(assuming).
clutchmaster stock would be fine if you are not planning on doing anything. I just recently ordered the ACT clutch kit, it's about a stage above stock. Item # TY2-HD00 at www.clutchcityonline.com

I've heard good things about it, but i'm also planning on performance tuning in the near future, so that's why i went with this. It has a 37% increase on hold i'm pretty sure.

and don't worry about your flywheel. Just get it resurfased (spelling) which the shop will do for you ($35 bucks or so). Also, i forgot to add, the guy that does my work around here charges a strict $350, no matter how long or how short. (considering the way our cars are set up, it'll be long)

I got a stage I centerforce clutch form www.dualfriction.com and installed a couple months ago and i really like it. Its a little different feeling from stock, it took some getting used to, but thats my recomendation. My install was $300 and about $130 for the clutch and t.o.b.
