First off I would like to inform you all that I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and I have yet to see a "hooked up" 6th Gen anywhere! I have lived here for 4 or 5 years now and seen nothing but Hondas, Mitsubishis and other assorted crappy cars come and go. My question is why do so many kids and young adults choose Hondas to hookup? I mean why make your car look exactly like everyone elses? Im sooo happy I will have the only 6th gen when I go back to graduate next year!!
Why Choose Honda? - 6G Celicas Forums
People choose hondas becuz of all the aftermarket support. You can spend less and still make it fast. >
>
unlike the celicas, people get it becuz they want to be different from the rest. >

So... I should feel good that I am different for choosing a Celica? >

for a couple reasons
1.hondas are cheaper
2.what i call the "lemming effect"
3.big aftermarket
4.celicas were more expensive new and still are more expensive
5.celicas have a relatively small aftermarket
6.not as many celicas out there
the funniest thing ever was when i went to the local honda dealer to test drive a civic si(what a slow pile of ****) and the salesman showed me a civic ex with the factory xenon body kit and cai and exhaust, the car was already maxed out, the CR is too high to do any other real mods. but the guy kept on saying it was a "tricked out" civic. the guy was like 55-60 years old. i really really had to try hard not to laugh. and oh yeah, he kept saying 160hp for the si, i got sick of it and asked whats the torque, and he couldnt answer me, lol
yeah hondas suck

Hondas are very cheap to make so more people buy them. My car brand new was about 23 g's so i'm told. A brand new Civic EX will cost about 15 grand. The SI you can get for 19,000.
While were on the Mitsu subject...do they even have Eclipses in Japan? Aren't most Eclipses shot out of a factory in Detroit? At least our cars originate from Japan.

Some people tend to choose honda instead of the celi because of its performance wise. You can make a honda look nice and make it fast at the same time. 6th gen on the other hand, It looks nicer than a honda but not fast enough. If your lucky to have a JDM spec 3S-GTE, then thats even way better and way faster. >

Nevermind...a GTO is just a 3000GT.
Here's what the FTO looks like if anyone was wondering

Sorry bout not posting the pics here, but too lazy right now to download them, then upload them to imagestation, work out the right link url, then post it here >

These cars (FTOs) are very common in New Zealand - but then, if a car is sold to the Japanese Domestic Market, there's at least one in NZ somewhere, since we also use Km/h, right hand drive etc, it makes it a lot easier to import them cheaply.

Around me this is the reason that people get hondas, they are easy. They are easy to get and easy to hook up. You don't have to look around the four corners of the planet like we do when we want aftermaket parts. Some every few people know how to hook up their hondas to make them stand out, eveyone else is just a copycat. But we are lucky we have a beautiful car that looks fast and can be made to go faster. think about this take a honda civic put 4grand under the hood and you got around 190 hp. take that 4 grand and put under the hood of our celicas and well all i have to say is 3s gte.

FTO:

Not bad...certainly better thant he eclipse. I like the Supra style headlights. I would have considered purchasing one if they rolled out over here. They don't have much power for a v6 though.

I've never seen a so called "hooked up" 6th gen in my area. I've just seen one with chrome 17's on it. I feel proud that I'm the only one around that has a 6th gen with performance parts added. I'd kinda get pee'd off if I saw just as many modified 6th gen celi's around as I see Hondas. I like being one of the unique ones.
hehe im gonna go off topic and say f*ck honda.
im all for toyotas and nissans. great cars, great engines.

Well I'm sorry to say this, but as you know I have a
95 Honda EX with B16A engine swap, and lot of bolt ons
so my car is "ALL ENGINE".. no boost... and I beat the living crap
out of more expensive cars.... I have not spend more then 6-7Gs on all of it, and
since its "all engine" it's pretty reliable for everyday driving...
(ran it last week @ 14.0 QM with new V-tec controller and Nitto 15" slicks / and no wing)
Well like zigy, I also have a Honda. It's a fun car to drive. Why would you say "f*ck a Honda?" I think they are great cars. Very reliable, very easy to work with, very easy to find parts, very easy to interchange parts.... I say f*ck the ricer owners that make people like me and zigy look bad. Not all Honda owners are pricks that think they own everything on the road.
Dez, i know someone in west palm beach with a hooked up 6th, so you wont be alone. Last i checked he custom fitted a huge single turbo and intercooler, i do not know why cuz be obeys the speed limit.
i always want a crx so i can hook it up and make it a sleeper
Yeah, hondas are god cars....its just ricers that give them bad names. A kid i know has a black CRX that is gorgeous, its got a really nice tranny and ride to it. My dad used to have a 1st gen prelude and he said that hondas are awesome cars to drive, just really tight and mechanically sound machines. I would agree from what ive heard and seen, its just that due to the aftermarket support they get, Hondas are very popular and easy to modify.
3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
--Silver94CelicaOwner+Mar 28, 2003 - 11:50 AM
yepp and couple that with how easily accesable it is to get one and there you have it, the obvious reason to chose honda.

WoW im going to go out right now and buy a Honda >

This celica is my first car and I was originally looking for an integra or a civic coupe just because I knew a lot of people who had them and I was ignorant, I accidentally ran across the celica and said " i have to try this! " definetely blew all civic ex's and integra ls's I test drove away only thing I didn't like as much was the shifter for honda's are soooo smooth.
--Dez+Mar 28, 2003 - 4:52 PM
lol, im only arguing one side here because your question was one sided, if i compared that versus a celica or most other toyotas of course toyota would look better, just b/c were all toyota fans here.
