You mean like sand that they put down to melt the snow? I hate that stuff.
How'd you manage to do that kind of damage to a rim? Slam into a curb? What other damage was done?
New Toyota project coming soon...

my friend with a 1.8 jetta that he has chipped were racing to his house and they just put that asphalt junk over the black top to give it a new surface and i hit around the corner and saw the stuff and was like ohh nooooo so i did a huge powerslide around the corner. i ended up nailing the curb at like 25-30 or so i braced myself and jumped the curb and heard a huge crunch and i knew it was my rim. so i got out and my buddy was like dude i shoulda told ya they were redoing the pavement and so i was like eghhh ohh well. so we looked at the damage and the center mount you know with the lugs was completely off from the rim i was like ohhh Sheat. so inorder to get it off the grass we went and got a floor jack and jacked the front of the car up and pulled it with truck and it worked until the stupuid jack got stuck under the car haha. so here is the deal. we ended up towing the car back on the rotor with now wheel. it made so much noise considering it was 2 in the morning. we only had to go two blocks so it wasn't that bad. we got back went to my house grabbed one of my stockers and drive it home. the damge was a bent strut it was bent inward. a broken rim, and a broken sway bar linkage, and a bad rear wheel bearing. and my alignment was off. so i got a bearing from the junkyard 70 bucks, bought a monroe strut for 40 bucks, and the linkage was 10 bucks. i'm gonna get the alignment in the spring when i pull her back out. all in all i spent like 120 for the job and the mechaninc quoted me 1000 bucks i was like screw that.
but egh i kept up to the jetta...
Damn Jettas. I raced one once, and hit a bump in the road, (we both did) and got air. When the rear end landed, it blew out the rear struts. Yet- life goes on

I do hate the sand/salt with a passion, it really sucks since it is so cold out we can't even wash our cars without the water freezing right away.

last winter i couldn't even get gas cuz the fuel door was frozen shut with like 1/4" of ice from the car wash. i had to go inside and ask for a flat screwdriver to chisel my way through haha
yes, sand is no fun... when i was 17 I crashed my Focus into a median because of sand on a curve at about 35... Needless to say the front suspention got ripped up and it cost about 4 grand to fix >
