Topic #20494 13 posts Started by Dacoolguychris
i was thinking about removing the rear emblems that say toyota celica (on back left) and just leaving the one that says GT... i was wodnering if i take em off will there be a messy glue left behind and if so how do i take it off?

will there be any holes i have to fix?

heat gun or hair dryer. Remove the residue with careful rubbing withan adhesive remover and fingernails, and then some wax/polishing compund makes it new again.

Yep, if you use a heat gun though, be careful not to get the paint too hot, as excessive heat will damage it. Also, it's possible that the paint under the glue and emblem may be a different shade due to age of the paint and paint care and stuff...just something to think about so you're not shocked once the emblems are off. >wink.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
use alcohol

Sold my Celica....
a thin fishing line works too once its heated....just be careful
If you heat it for a little bit (only like 30 seconds) then u can use waxed dental floss and get it off.....it works pretty well
thanks for the help.. i'm gonna get on top of it next week when i have the time.. but i'm not sure if i should take em all off..
just take off the toyota and GT.. and leave the celica... or
just take off the toyota and celica and leave the GT... or
take off everything

oh yeah BTW i was wondering if for some odd reason this is illegal to do because cops and other cars can't tell unless they know what kinda car it is

-Chris
no i dont think so....they are pretty hardcore here in jersey about that kinda stuff and no problems yet....they get all the info from your paperwork you give them......good luck let us know when your done! >biggrin.gif>
I used some bug/tar re-mover sold in an auto store and that worked fine. Comes in handy, it breaks down petrolium products.

anyone know if this works on the toyota logo on the rear too?

D
yes, but there might be two holes under the logo on the rear.

same for the front.

Goo Gone works perfect to get rid of extra glue on the car.
well i took off the emblems and glue today.. only took me like 15-20 mins max.. easier then i had thought.. the floss and fishing line didn't work.. but the hairdryer worked....

I just heated up the glue.. and used a terry towel to wipe it off.. oh and in the process melted the skin off one of my thumbs...

car+hairdryer=hot surface+thumb=OUCH!!!.. oh well it looks sweet now.. i'm going to have to update some of my pictures.. once i get the car washed and waxed..

thanks for all the help

Bug and tar remover is lot easier than using heat of any sorts.. Well, for me, anyways.. >tongue.gif>
