Projector Bulb Blues - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #20580 3 posts Started by ComaDave
I've been running high wattage bulbs in my projectors (H-1's), and I've noticed some degradation in brightness. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem. I'm running 80 watt purple bulbs, which I think may be the first problem. I changed one recently and there were carbon deposits on the bulb, most likely from whatever purple-color coating they used. I'm going to try out some hyper-white bulbs in hopes that the purple-color coating was the problem. If not, then it's back to silver-stars.
If your getting cheap bulbs thats your answer right there. 80 watts is alot.

anytime theres a coating on a bulb to change the color ur gonna definetly decrease the life span. I have bulbs in my gauges that lasted 6 months cuz they were coated with blue when usually stock bulbs should last YEARS!
