Hey, I've got a buddy of mine wanting to put new speakers in his Jeep and told him I'd ask all of you guys for some help. I've done some research and I know that JL's have a good med and high but no low. Just thought that someone with first hand experence could give me some info. I'm thinking sony xplodes have a good range, that's all I know right now. If you got some free time, post your opinon. Thanks.

for me its all about eclipse speakers and alpine....
i want to get the alpine type x for my fronts and eclipse for the rear...i get them hella cheap from my work but i just havent had the extra cash to get them....

Do NOT get SONY. they are not good, you'll find out anythign sounds better then sony. I have between rockford components alpine, boston polk audio and pioneer

Rockford components: Sound Great, great highs an mids, but needs an amp.
Rockford 2 way: Sound very good good bass but highs sounds a lil muffled
Alpine 2 ways: Sounds very gopod, Nice bass good mids but kinda poor/muffled highs compairing them to my rockford components.

Boston: great highs and mids, but average bass
POLK Audio 2 way: sounds great, very nice bass and good high, kinda poor mids.
Pioneer 2 way : sounds very nice, but not great bass
Pioneer three way, sounds great but needs a sub , to much bass powerd from amp messes up highs an mids.

Also have two rockford he-2 subs, with rockford amp. They sound great. To much power, but hits al notes, somtimes seems to drop out when hitting to low, but same with speakers.

I can confirm on the Pioneer 2 ways. They have good clarity but not enough bass. Suits my needs, I dont like bass much.

Sony makes good TVs and decent headunits their audio stuff isnt any good. I gotta say best bang for the buck is some pioneer premiers. Bostons are awesome but pricey.

I have a mix between kicker and priemers in my car. all my subs and midbass are kicker and my highs and mids are premiers. I think it sounds good but it cant touch bostons.

Hey Chuco, do you have any primer that are i think 6" woofers with 100 watt rms?? My brother got two pioneer primer woofers fromt he junkyard, that are yellow, and sounds damn nice, and im thinking of putting them in my frontinstead of my rockford woofers

Sony sucks.. nothing is good from them car audio wise.. what about Focal, CDT, Dyn Audio, Diamond Audio, Rainbow etc..? you wont get much midbass from any coaxials.. for better sound and imaging look into Component Sets... www.thezeb.com has some CDT components on sale for $159 that will suit your needs and then some.. great sound, clarity and everything and the sale is unbeatable.. not a better set brand new for that price.. CDT has been known for their awesome products that put out Amazing sound quality. i think you would be very happy with CDT's, CDT also has coaxials on The Zeb for a great price.. Pioneer's entry level stuff that you find at Wal Mart and such is alright i guess.. decent at best in my opinion step up to the REV series atleast... their Premier line of CD players is top though... JL has all around great products, but their components and speakers dont fit my needs.... if you want the best sound out of your speakers or components, you will want to get a 4 channel amp... JBL, Kicker, MTX, JL, Xtant, USAcoustics, Zapco have great amps that will suite your needs. thats all i got.. LaTeR

nah, i have the model before the yellow ones, they 6 1/2 silver cones.

I ordered mb quart components RCE216, a little expensive, but amazing clairty. about 190 a set and you need a seperate amp.

Ok speaking of this,. and Scarrell, maybe u can awnser this sence u seem to have a lot of good imput. Im looking for a 2 channle amp for my front speakers. Im not looking to spend a lot, but I have rockford components, nothing to great th eones thta cost like $190 retail about two years ago. But im thinking of replaceing the woofers with these pioneer primer, that are rated at 100 watts rms each. Also I have some polk components i might replace and then just sell the rockfords. What kinda amp u think i should get. I have a kenwood head unit as well.

well car audio is my life >>. but i think you will be better off using a 4 channel amp, the reason why i recommend 4 channel amps for speakers is incase you want to add another set, but dont get me wrong you can use 2 channel amps or mono's. look into an amp that will put out around the RMS of the speakers. but remember you do not need an amp that matches the RMS to get the best sound. i would recommend an amp that puts out around 40rms (or more ofcourse, but not over 150rms or so unless they can handle it or its a good deal). i cant really name any certain models off hand but as always i can recommend brands to look at: MTX, JL, Memphis, JBL, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker(and whatever other brands i have recommended) but as i said i would try and find a good 4 channel amp incase you want to power them also. but you can use a mono or 2 channel amp to power 4 speakers also. id personally run all components and not coaxials because they put out better sound/imaging. but running coaxials are fine... also guys i dont want anyone to think i know it all because i certainly do not so dont listen to me, listen to brands yourself, read as many reviews as you can. if you like them that is all that matters, i just try and help everyone from having to buy new amps/subs/speakers/etc.. by pointing them out to the better brands. while some are expensive they will serve you well. think twice and buy once!

I'm looking for the best sound without an amp. Just replacing factory speakers. Is the info the same? Same stuff still good?

Thanks SCARREL, but that didnt really help, I already knew most of that info. I personally like more sound from the front, so im not going to power my rears. I sold home/car audio for 2 years at bestbuy, and know a lot, but havnt really been into it or looked around for awhile so i wasnt sure if you knew any nice amps off the top of your head or heard an good reviews, sence u seem to be into audio. Il just look for some good spec amps..

Also after driving to and from class today, i think i figured out what im gunna try and do.

Im gunna find an amp to power power both the pioneer primer woofers, and the set of component rockford tweeters and polk tweeters as well, so i will get a nice amount of highs. Because iv noticed when i have my windows open it kills em. I also have a pair of rockford he-2's , well one at the moment.

the only things that youve mentioned that i have is polk ex2500 tweeters. theyre not sold anymore, but i love them. i have an eclipse ea3422 amp which is also great, but i want more power. my brother has the eclipse pa5400 and im in love with it. hope this helps you out some.

Audiobahn is complete crap, nothing but chrome paper weights.. Infinity is nice aswell i forgot to mention them, as for just replacing the speakers and no amp, id go with the CDT coaxials from www.thezeb.com for only $60 they cannot be beaten.. CDT makes some of the best SQ products out and you will not be disapointed. the only thing they will lack is decent midbass but that is common with speakers. again id go with the CDT's.
