I know this has been discuss several times, on what is the best suspension.

Well what is the best suspension for best ride quality.

So for my idea of the best ride is:

17 in rims with 45 tire wall.

tanable springs.

and kyb struts.

Anyone else have anything to add? comments?

Ride quality?

A car that masses several tons, on soft springs and soggy dampers. 13" wheels with the biggest sidewalls you can find.

You won't feel a thing, even when it understeers off the road into a field.

kyb struts nahhh that ain't quality. go for konis or throw in like 300 more bucks and you get get the tein ss coilovers. now that is a nice setup. my tax refund is going for tein ss and the cusco pillow ball mounts.

the thing about tein ss are they are more sports orentated springs with increase spring rate.. The tanable springs have close to stock spring rate so the ride quality should not be too bad considering you are lowering the car and installing bigger rims..

If by "best ride quality" you mean "least punishing", your answer is stock.

or even better..

get 13 inch rims and put some cynder blocks in the front and rear of the car to weight it down.

comon guys.. obviously i'm asking about what is the best ride quality for a lowered car. And by lowering i dont mean by adding weights to it.

well u asked a question that will ever u an answer that u will never be 100 percent happy with... u want a smooth right with ur 17's i woulld say go with some air bags .. that way u can have the nice smooth right like a caddie ... u might also want to try moving up to 50 side wall ... they tires are the one thing that will give u that smooth feel .. u can get any spring set up but if u don't have enuff air to cushion better the tread and the rim its going to be rough ..

I don't find the your implied reasoning all that obvious. Despite the common perception that we have too much wheel gap, some people may be willing to live with it in order to avoid the slightest jarring effects of a performance suspension.

Also, its a poorly phrased question because we don't know what you mean by "best ride quality". Best handling? Best comfort? Least bounciness? Least wheel spin in a higher powered car? Its simply not clear. I assumed you meant "least jarring".

If you mean "least jarring" in a lowered car, I would stay away from eibach, trd and h & r as they are performance oriented springs. Disclaimer: I have never ridden in a car with eibach sportlines or h & r. My car has TRD springs and I have ridden in a mustang with the prokit.

exact type of answer i was looking for.

As you noticed i did not mention anything about performance. I dont believe there is an manufacture out there can makes aftermarket parts to improve on the stock comfort level.

I thought air bag suspensions are bouncy? Anyone know more about this?

And would 50 tire side wall even fit on a celica with 17s?

I had air suspension on my Lincoln. Nothing but smoothness. No rebound at all, that was stock suspension though.

im looking for good ride quality too. im going to try upgrading to 225-45-17 tires. if that dont help, i might change the shocks and go with a eibach Prokit.

I am not sure but I think the prokit would be the stiffest shocks you can get for our car. They have been characterized as the "ultimate" autocross springs by other well know members of this board. (i.e. spedtoe). You may want to hit him or conetrouble up to ask for sure.

but are stiff shocks a thing you want in a suspension built around comfort?

I would think soft springs and new shocks would be the way to go.

shock selection is the single biggest factor in ride "stiffness" or the jarring / cushy feeling. There is a ton of difference between stock / KYB shocks and the koni's.
